Value for money Good service Breakfast
The helpfulness of all the staff at the Melbourne Arms was really impressive, they looked after our every wish during our two night stay .The room was clean and comfortable with ample tea and coffee making facilities .
Perfectly adequate for a short stay.
Freindly service, good Indian food. We didnt arrive untill 10.15pm it was no problem getting a meal, which was verry nice, gone before breakfast so I can't comment on it, but the owner was willing to get us cereal for our rooms.
The rooms could do with a fresh coat of paint, but they were clean and tidy.
The food. Location Staff(Owners a nice guy) Value for money(Half that of a T lodge) Substantial, secure car park(ideal for trackday cars on trailers).
Room wasn't as clean as ideal in corners of bathroom. Some may find noise an issue as close to the main road(though not buisy) and airport.I wear earplugs so not a problem. Also weather was warm so I slept with the windows open which would increase noise.
breakfast (english type) wasn't good, greasy, unhealthy, there was no choice of fresh products, what is quite standard in this area anyway; rooms are small, worn out; in every possible place there are warnings: "don't do this", "don't do that", "cctv in operation", etc, feels like you're being watched all the time; restaurant serves Indian food, very low quality; the place charged my card in advance for the whole stay, not at the end;
They put up a packed lunch for me as I left before breakfast was served
Lots of green space for sitting outside. Room had everything you could possibly need and the bed was very comfy. Excellent breakfast (except the sausages!) and the Indian food was excellent.
Check in advertised from 12 noon but our rooms were,nt ready till 1.30 so had to get changed for a party in the ladies loo.
Welcoming staff. Good Indian cuisine.
Poor breakfast, possibly due to cultural reasons (didn't think Indian catering involved using pig meat, if so why not offer an alternative to bacon and sausages, i.e. kedgeree). Wonder what an Indian breakfast would consist of?
Great outdoor play area for children; friendly staff; good and reasonably priced food
We had booked a family room but were informed on arrival that they had double booked the room and it had been given to another family. We were offered a double and a single room instead but this is not helpful when travelling with a 2 year old. We then settled for a double but were not offered a refund of the price difference. We negotiated some free drinks but this issue was not handled professionally. The room we were given had a strong damp and mouldy smell, so really wasn't great. I wouldn't have liked to stay there for more than a night.
The staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful.
Really helpful and friendly staff. Solved our transport problem when a booked taxi failed to appear. Good breakfast included.
Nothing really, room fairly basic, but everything necessary for a short stay.
The staff are really friendly and it's in a lovely location
The people who worked there were helpful, pleasant and eager to help in any way. The food was superb; we will certainly be staying there again.
Very polite and helpful staff, great breakfast
Very welcoming, decent room and good food.
Noisy pipes and could hear next door's bathroom so regularly woken in the night.
We loved the beautiful indian furnshings, our bedroom was very nice the shower was great.
We would have liked semi skimmed milk. The toast was a bit limp, breakfast was a bit too early for us as our break was a lesuire break.could have offered a more varied english food..
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cooked breakfast was excellent. The location was convenient because we were going to a wedding in Melbourne.
We only stayed one night, and during the night the room became rather cold. The management had no chance to address this problem as we were leaving in the morning.
The room was good and the staff were helpful and pleasent.
Cooked breakfast was very average but it was included in the price so cannot grumble too much. Also breakfast is only served between 7-8am.
the food was good the manager was also very helpful.
no handrail at the curve of the stairs, which were also quite steep. The room was quite cold and drafty. I would think that it was time the 3* was reassesed.
Comfy beds Welcoming staff
Tired looking hotel with not much to write home about No breakfast (although we had expected it) Bathroom needed some work
Very friendly staff
.. all good
Fantastic food and amazing staff we would definitely one back :)
All the staff were very welcoming. We had choice of room and chose well. Wet room with powerful shower and heated towel rail. Small room but clean and tidy and included fridge. Evening Indian meal very good. Breakfast adequate and freshly cooked. A good experience for a budget price.
