I didn't really like anything about the Melbourne Arms. Didn't reserve my room in the correct name, leading to confusion on arrival and then a sarky comment about giving me a double room when I had booked a single....the place was full so not done out of generosity!; Over-smarmy, far-from-genuine "welcome" from what I think was the owner; sad remains of an English pub overwhelmed by the smell of an Indian restaurant; very noisy bathroom fan; tiny tv; nowhere to sit comfortably in the room; nowhere to write in room; nowhere to sit comfortably at all; soul-less pub area - horrid; large restaurant, almost empty; having to pay the evening before leaving, (including room though supposedly paid on booking, leading to uncertainty), meal arrived in no time at all hardly prepared especially and the pilau rice was only long-grain, with yellow colouring - shameful!; Breakfast baked beans were rationed, so few you could count them and the bacon tasted like it had been cooked in the curry pan; weak tea; encouraged to leave immediately after breakfast, and if not leaving quickly enough, obliged to go out of a door with a much longer walk to the car park. The Boss doesn't bother to even show his face, leaving breakfast, goodbyes and all housekeeping to one overworked, but pleasant and obliging chap. A relief to leave.

Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. No de-caf coffee in the room. I didn't ask for any as it was 2215 hrs when I wanted said de-caf, so I had tea.

I found the staff very helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and well equipped. Plenty of parking spaces. Although the Melbourne Arms is a quality Indian Restaurant, they served a good English breakfast. I would certainly use them again.

Helpful, friendly staff, comfortable and well-appointed room and shower-room. It does what it says on the tin, without fuss or hurry. It wouldn't hurt to purchase locally produced sausages, not the mass-produced and bland offerings for breakfast.

Single room rate, close to East Mids Airport, very friendly helpful staff. I arranged this about one and a half hours before arrival and I was expected, greeted by name and all of the paperwork was already completed.

I stayed here as an alternative to the Airport Hotels, it's about 4.5 miles away from East Midlands (Nottingham) The room cost £35.00, it was clean and comfortable. I ate there, the food was Indian quizine and delicious. The staff were all freindly and polite. The breakfast was fine too. Would defineatly stay there again.

The staff were extremely polite and welcoming and the room was very cosy with more than adequate bathroom/toilet facilites. I did not realise that it was run by an Indian proprietor but chose a delicious curry from the indian restaurant menu - which comprised some different and exciting dishes (not the usual Indian restaurant choices) and enjoyed probably one of the nices curries I'd ever had! The only downside was that because I had to leave at 6.00 a.m. - there was no breakfast available.

Has to be one of the friendliest, most welcoming hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in in Great Britain - a true credit to the management & staff. The late start (9am) to breakfast on Sunday could be a problem for me although not on this particular occasion.

the fact that is was close to sites I planned to visit the room was very basic , with tired fittings and cobwebs. A shame that the owners only do the very minimum .Even though it was good value - cleaning costs nothing
