The hotel is conveniently located for seeing the sights in the Pimlico/Victoria Station area. The rooms are tiny, so there is not enough room to feel comfortable when travelling with suitcases. If you eat breakfast there the wait-staff makes you feel rushed to leave. The room service people knock loudly on your door in the morning and also make you feel rushed to exit your room in the morning. The level of service was not in keeping with the nightly rate.

The hotel was recently refurbished and spotlessly clean. Because it is an old building the stairways are quite narrow, but the bedroom was a reasonable size and would have been manageable for two. The staff are brilliant! The reception and breakfast staff all went out of their way to make sure everything was as I wanted it. I was there for only one night, but for a central hotel at a reasonable price this is a gem. I'll certainly be staying there again. It's a bit of a walk to the nearest tube - around 15 minutes

Very kind and attentive staff, good breakfast, convinient location: close to railway station and subway, and it takes 20 min walk from the hotel to Big Ben, Trafalgar square, etc.

Location was very good. Customer service very poor indeed. The welcome at the reception was one of the worst I have ever come across in my life of travel. The owner told me I should leave the room as I find it. I should be very clean with the bathrooms. He never mentioned enjoy your stay. During my stay, the owner asked me to make way from the room so he could change the carpet.

Very attractive building although compact inside. Very friendly and accommodating manager. Recommended local eating places. Fantastic meal out as a result. Breakfast ample (cereal, fruit juice, coffee, toast - there was also fresh fruit, yoghurt and muffins (?) also some meat and cheese which I didn't want). Very clean. Don't forget to hand your key in when you leave. :) It didn't have a lift and the rooms were spread over six floors. Ours was on the sixth floor! Many more trips and my knees would have given out. Nice room though - views towards the Eye.

Single room was very small but clean and functional. Breakfast was included and was above the average 'buffet' breakfast. For £55 for one night incl breakfast and vat I have no complaints. The shared bathroom was up 4 flights of stairs but not a real problem.

Very close to the Victoria train station. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was good. If you get into London late be sure to eat if you are hungry. Everything in the neighborhood closes at 1100, except a take out Chinese restaurant, they were open until 1130, but only for take out. The problem is the hotel owner does not allow take out food in the rooms. The owner was kind and let us eat in his kitchen, but I don't think he was too happy about it. Don't get me wrong he was very nice about it and I appreciated he doing that, I just felt uncomfortable about it.

It's good location, it's staff that is quite friendly and helpfull. The breakfast time duration. I was unable to have a meal during my stay... And the fact that between 00:00 and 07:00 there is no staff at the hotel and there was no "emergency number" at least...

I stayed at the hotel for 11 days and I was definitely very enjoyed about everything! Very convinient location just few steps away from the underground station Pimlico, that is the 1st transport zone of London. Hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and polite, rooms were cleaned every day. I didn't spend a lot of time in the room, because it was a business trip, but this hotel is very good choise for those who want to explore the city. Best value for money.

It was clean and well located. The weather was cold and we were not able to turn on the heat. The hotel had control of it and it was turned on at 6:00 P.M. and turned off at 7:00 A.M. We did not like this practice.

Room recently new carpet etc so very nicely fitted out. Bed very comfortable, all fittings and decor in excellent condition. Photos on website accurate, very nicely presented throughout. Breakfast coffee is strong and dark with plenty of it. The area was quiet at night and other guests considerate with no late tv or drunks coming back at 3am. Water very hot and shower excellent. Bath (large and deep) near 3rd floor - take the shower head off to fill bath as the mixer tap does not work. Some outstanding restaurants in the area including a Tai Cafe (charwood rd) where the food is exquisite. Value for money could be improved. On rd floor no lift or help with bags, wi fi only on ground floor. Continental breakfast very limited, uk white or brown bread with processed jam in little plastic pots 3 cereals no musuli or herb teas, processed ham and salami, yogs . No Continental croissants although they did have some cake from Lydl, english speaking/understanding of breakfast staff somewhat limited. I have had much better breakfast at several other 2** London hotels charging half the price of this one, it is really a !* breakfast at 3*** prices and does not deserve the 'continental' in the title. Tea coffee in room limited to tea bags and instant nescafe with coffee whitener. Again other 2** places in London provide a better range including some herb teas and milk.

John, the proprietor, made the difference between our stay being 'just a room' at the end of our trip and being a place we will remember with a degree of fondness as part of our London experience. The room was too small and pretty spartan, especially for the relatively small difference in its cost from a chain establishment, but John was helpful and personally friendly at a level you would never see at a Best Western. He accommodated without a second thought our request to leave an extra bag there during the two weeks we traveled on the continent, and had an extra umbrella at the ready the day we were headed out to go and sightsee in the rain. His staff was also likewise helpful and accomodating. We would stay at Melbourne House again if we were to return to London. As noted, the room was very small and sans any of the amenities (desk, sitting chair, small fridge) which we would be accustomed to at even low-end budget lodging in the States.

Great service, John was so helpful and took our bags up, as they were slightly heavy (being in Europe for 4 weeks). Any enquiry we had, was never a problem. His staff were obliging looking up the internet for information we needed and organising our transport to the airport. Breakfast room was clean and tidy and food was always replenished and fresh. Our room was fresh and clean at all times. The Melbourne is definately a place to stay whilst in London, Thanks from 2 Aussie ladies
