Melrose House  

It was only a few minutes from the railway station and the train links to and from central London were excellent. A lovely leafy, quiet suburb. Although there was modernisation work going on it did not interfere with any aspects of our stay there. The new kitchen dining area is superb. Our two night stay was excellent and all the facilities first class. The choice and quality of food for breakfast was of a very high standard. Fran and Viv were very helpful and friendly and made us feel most welcome. We would return if we ever had the occasion to visit London in the future.

A wonderful hotel. We were looking for something not very expensive, but also not far from central London and desided to stay there. The hotel is situated in a very scenic place, our room was clean and comfortable, not very big, but it was enough for two, breakfasts were very tasty. Tea, coffee and teapot in the room were available. The atmosphere there was very friendly, Thanks to Vic and Fran we felt like we were home and it was amazing. If we go to London again, we will sure stay at Melrose House:)

It was calm, quiet, situated in a nice area, well connected by train to the centre of London. Very good breakfast included in the price.

The room as such was very small and, even so, it was not warm enough, especially during the nights. The room had a veranda in front and even if there was a heater in there, it was always cold and the owner reluctant to turn it on and, unfortunatelly, it was snowing in London.The bathroom was a freezer. It was very unpleasant to shower in the morning or to even enter the bathroom. Internet was not working in our room.

We stayed the weekend of the heavy snow but the front path was not cleared or any salt etc put down, which left it very dangerous.

The staff at Melrose House are exemplary. The room was very good value for money for London (ensuite with a four-poster bed) - the proprietor even tried to get me into a cheaper room to reduce the cost (but everything had already been arranged).The breakfast; delicious. It is a quiet area and having a train station to central London within walking distance is brilliant.

The only drawback is space to park off the street. The single breakfast table does look like it could get crowded unless eating first thing - maybe the great-looking conservatory could be used as an eating area too..

Kedves kertvárosi környezet, igényesen felújított és berendezett szoba. A reggeli választék is megfelelő. A tulajdonos nagyon kedves, segítőkész és mindig jókedvű. A közlekedés gyors (20-25 perc a belváros). Nagyon elégedettek voltunk. ------ Nice suburban environment, beautifully renewed and furnished room. Even th e choice of breakfast is perfect. The owner was very kind, helpful and always gleeful. The public transport is fast (20-25 minutes the City). We were very satisfied.

Comfortable room, spotlessly clean, and well located for our purpose (close to Crystal Palace)

Would have preferred en-suite bathroom, slightly difficult to find since a number of roads have been closed since my satnav maps were done, resulting in directions to dead ends. My recommendation would be to set the satnav for Courtenay Road as Melrose House is on the corner of Courtney and Lennard

Great atmosphere, very clean and tidy. Great value for money and highly recommended!

La chambre pour 4 est très bien car isolée des autres donc pas de bruit.

Bcp de choses malheureusement 1) le pdj (mauvais croissants, mauvais oeufs brouillés, mauvais café, horaires, rien de fait maison...) 2) l'accueil assez négatif... 3) la chambre dite "deluxe" dans laquelle nous avons été obligés de déménager malgré le fait que nous ayons réservé la chambre pour 4 pendant 1 semaine (je pense que la propriétaire n'est pas très réglo à ce niveau...) donc la chambre deluxe n'est PAS DU TOUT isolée ni du bruit (chambre au dessus et vitre SIMPLE vitrage pas étanche non plus) ni du froid (simple vitrage) 3) la chambre des enfants n'ayant pas de sdb....

Das Frühstücksangebot war bestmöglichmit einer sehr breit gefächerten Auswahl, wir haben das ausgezeichnete English Breakfast gewählt. Das Frühstück wird gemeinsam mit anderen Gästen an einem großen Tisch eingenommen, diesen Breakfast Club möchte ich nicht mehr missen: Wir hatten viele nette Gespräche und haben Interessantes und Nützliches erfahren. Die Bahnstation Penge East ist ganz in der Nähe, wer mit der Oyster Card durch London will, findet hier guten Anschluß.

La chambre familiale à 4 lits individuels est très bien ainsi que la localisation. On était près d'une station de train ainsi que des lignes de bus pour aller en ville. D'une manière générale assez bonne la relation qualité-prix. La bonne chose, on avait une entrée indépendante donc on était sûres de ne pas déranger les autres quand on rentrait tard le soir. Le petit-déjeuner est bien mais pas plus - à vous méfier des dates de validité spécialement des iogourts et des crèmes/lait à café dans la chambre, ainsi que la patisserie... J'ai eu droit à un "scone" moisi :( Le tout aurait besoin d'un bon rafraichissement!

&Quot;problèmes avec le système de réservations" c'est ce qu'on m'a dit et pour la dernière nuit on a dû changer pour 2 chambres individuelles tandis que mon choix était basé sur le fait d'avoir une chambre familiale. Une des chambres qu'on a eue pour la dernière nuit n'avait pas de chauffage et mon effort pour la mettre en marche n'a rien donnée - tout simplement ça ne marchait pas! Le petit-déjeuner servi un peu trop tôt pour quelqu'un qui est en vacances et qui n'a pas forcément envie de se lever à 7:00 du matin...

Abbiamo soggiornato presso questo B&B per il ponte di S.Ambrogio e devo dire che ci siamo trovati piuttosto bene, unico neo il bagno un po' piccolo e la doccia con la tenda, ma nel complesso tutto bene, soprattutto la colazione abbondante e con la possibilità di prendere anche piatti caldi, nella migliore tradizione inglese. La Melrose House dista 5 minuti a piedi dalla stazione PENGE EAST della National Rail e 15 minuti di treno dalla Victoria Station di Londra (prendere treno per Orpington), per cui la posizione é abbastanza comoda, considerando anche la frequenza delle corse (ogni 15 minuti, poi ogni mezz'ora la sera). Sicuramente da consigliare, soprattutto per il rapporto qualità prezzo.

Fijne B&B met vriendelijke mensen die voor je klaar staan als je vragen hebt. Veilige buurt, goede hygiëne, prima ontbijt, fijne sfeer. Prima bedden.

Misschien net iets te ver van de city. Toilet trok slecht door.
