I have diet limitations, which were not a problem at breakfast. Serving staff pleasant and helpful.
The location and period style
The restaurant and food quality lacking 4 star status. No toiletries int he bathrooms again not expected from 4 star

The location was ideal. The Castle excellent and the scenery was beautiful.
Welcoming staff, comfortable, spacious room, enjoyable meal.I will certainly come back, next time for leisure, with my wife.
First stay at Melville castle, midweek overnight. Loved the cosy welcome, lovely setting. Room was comfortable, staff very welcoming. Very relaxing and great to unwind. Great first impression, we'll be back
everything was perfect the best stay we have had any were for a very long time. My friends from the US loved it we will be back
Dinner in the brasserie restaurant was lovely and very reasonably priced. The library bar was nice and cosy and quiet until some of the Christmas party came through. Our room had a mezzanine level which was fantastic as it meant we had a separate living room area!
Location, nice room
Place is a bit tired Arrived after 3 when the only bar open was the library bar, nothing to eat available other than small cakes and crisps. Advised that Tesco was close by Soundproofing non-existent
Very accommodating. Ensured we were happy with everything.
Historic ambience. Quality of staff.
Food selection and quality of cooking. Bedding
good location, loads of character, nice stay
I was not happy with the heating when we arrived as all the rads we returned off then it took 2.5 hrs to get it on which spoiled or visit Other than that it was fine
It's a castle. How often do you sleep in a castle? Beautiful location Nice dinner at reasonable prices
Poor wi-fi reception in the room, fine anywhere else. Staff was nice enough, but leaves room for improvement
It was designed for a disabled person.the wash basin was inadequate also no toiletry shelf. The shower head was insecure also dripped all through my stay ,the bath had rust marks in the bath, there was no toilet roll holder. So in all this spoilt what infact is a very nice hotel.
The Building, the grounds
Mold in the bathroom (room 2) made the room smell moody. Various items needed maintenance, electric plugs didn't work, curtain hook loose in wall, bathroom door not painted after sizing, black mould between bathroom tiles. Finally the staff never smile!!!!
All of it....would definitely be coming back...... Thank you
location and setting,nice staff.
buffet breakfast was hot but not on cold plates please.
The Caslte and the grounds were beautiful. The food was excellent! The staff was nice. Would stay again
although it was summer and hot to the locals, it was cold to us and we had no heat in the room. disappointing
The big problem with this hotel was the staff. There is a complete lack of welcome and warmth. Also the 'brasserie' is charging far too much for food which is mediocre at best, and when it isn't even served with a smile you begrudge paying their prices.
The entire stay was exceptional. The hotel is amazing, the staff are friendly and informative, especially Sarah, Thanks again Sarah. We had a truly fantastic three night stay. No complaints at all.
The television was a bit fuzzy and we didn't get to see the ghost.
the setting for the castle is really nice and the castle it self was very nice...
if i have to dislike something think the only problem was that our phone wasnt working to we had to go to reception to order any room service... then wanted to have a bath and there was no plug for bath... also if i have to say the heater in bathroom was very rusty....
facilities, friendly staff, excellent sleeping accom.
Such a pleasant seating & so convenient to get anywhere around the city.
Staff, quiet grounds for location, ambience, family friendly, intimate, very professional ... All in all we loved our stay at Melville Castle. Thank you!
Minor issue, with water flow in bathroom - once staff notified, it was to be fixed. All good!
