A nice quiet place to stay and easy to find On arrival our booking had not been sent therefore we were kept waiting. Fortunately there was a spare room for us however this was not totally clean and the TV did not work taking 2 days to put right. |

the place, nice room the restaurant (its expensive and not good food!!!) . the staff, i think i didn t somebody with a smile. and for the breakfast somebody clean the area with hoover. |

having stayed before we knew the hotel. the rooms are good value and the castle is in a picturesque location Unfortunately the service was very poor. We ate in the hotel for dinner and the person who served us was quite rude at times and none too helpful in recomending an alternative to our choice of wine which had run out. However the breakfast was a disaster. We waited over 35 minutes for a table, being turned away 3 times from the eating area. we were left to look for a table ourselves as other late diners were seated before us. When we finally got a table there was a very poor quality and quantity of food available. The staff did provide fresh food but only after coaxing from a wedding party who had been seated for almost an hour. On our previous visit the breakfast had been a highlight of the stay. the staff could not cope and were not experienced in dealing with other customers complaints. This poor service detracted from an other wise good choice in terms of room and location |

We were upgraded to a suite when a fault in our window kept us all awake most of the night. Staff were very helpful and problem was sorted straight away. No facilities inside for kids during bad weather! Should invest in outside play area. Food nice but pricey. |

Excellent food, friendly staff, warm & inviting with a welcoming open fire, spaceous rooms, lovely grounds. The only negative point was layers of dust on the 4 poster canopy, picture rail and skirting. A few cobwebs in high places. |

The place was lovely and set in expansive gardens. There was one really rude member of staff who kind of spoiled it for me, especially after I had given him a ridiculously good tip the previous night. |

Good location for transport to Edinburgh, attractive grounds surrounding hotel, grand staircase area in castle, good sized rooms, good food. We were on the top floor (3 floors), and regularly suffered from no hot or cold water coming from taps & shower. Often had to wait 5 to 10 mins before water flowed. Bedroom & bathroom had no proper windows, although they did have a low level skylights that gave some outside visibility. |
