Staff is nice
If you arrive early, breakfast will always take 10-15min before you can start while it should have been ready by this time.
Facilities are all tidy and clean, kind staff, nice quality of breakfast, heating and hot water comes well, resonable price, bright atmosphere of the room.
If it has lift, it would be more comfortable. Because I had gigantic and heavy luggage but my room is in third floor. It was quite difficult and a bit dangerous to carry stiff staircases from 2nd floor to 3rd floor. But I understand it is the characteristic of traditional English house. So not much to complain.
good value hotel close to euston
Excellent staff, friendly, welcoming and highly efficient. I was lucky to have a very spacious room which was comfortable, clean and overlooked the tennis courts. Excellent free wi-fi. Breakfast very good and speedy check-out.
1. No Elevator - not stated on website 2. Paper thin walls - the room next door had their tv on all night and we could hear it clearly 3. Tiny Toilets and showers - can't turn around without bumping against something
Closeness to British Museum and tube. Quiet street although close to the centre of London.
There was nothing to dislike. It was a great find.
Too much noise, unaccebtable level
Mentone hotel has an excellent location. The breakfast is nice, quite hearty and waiting staff is making a good effort.
We had to wait for a very long time for hot water to come each time, and the pressure was very low, so taking a shower was not easy.
wi-fi and breakfast (and service for the breakfast) was good. location excellent. BUT not worth it.
terrible service from reception guys. they gave me probably the worst room, the tiniest, recently painted, it was impossible to be there because the smell of paint was awful, but I had no choice because they didn't want to move me to another one or to refund me. one of the guys even yelled at me. terrible experience. the heating was not working properly and no pressure in the shower. very bad for a january morning. definitely not worth the cost!!!! it was a racket. I'd rather go to an hostel around the same location instead, or to any of the other hotels on cartwright gardens - great location, ust pick another hostel
Good connection for wifi.
A very hard bed. I had a single room which was a bit small but it helped being able to have a window looking over the gardens.
Location is excellent for transport links and the many local eateries, shops and convenience stores - it is much quieter than the big chains very close by, set across from leafy gardens in an area which feels residential although there are many hotels. The room was generally fine. It was clean, relatively comfortable and the bed was decent. The breakfast was excellent - plenty of choice, freshly prepared and served by charming, helpful and very efficient staff.
Being asked to pay before we had even set our bags down in reception - we thought this was really off. There are many minor maintenance issues throughout the hotel which need attention. Nothing really vital but niggling: for example the metal spiral in the hose in our otherwise great shower was bent over, meaning the jets were blocked unless the hose was fixed on the wall in a particular way (above my head and I am not really small (5ft 5) The sash was broken in the window meaning we had to put a juice bottle in it to keep it open a little bit. The breakfast room is too small for the number of guests. We had to queue 2 of the 3 mornings of our stay as did many others.
The stuff at reception are not as friendly as told in the reviews. But the kitchen stuff are lovely:) Try not to stay at ground and basement floors, so so noisy. Sometimes it is impossible to sleep. The hotel is close to most of the places. It is easy to walk wherever you'd like. Breakfast is OK. The rooms are clean but towels are not changed appropriately and they do not refresh coffee and tea regularly at the rooms. I don't know why. Besides all of these, this is London for Gods sake. You can stay anywhere, anyhow and feel great:)))
four floors of stairs with my heavy suitcase to go in a microscopic double room.
The staff were friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast. In a lot of hotels I've stayed in London the staff don't really care, but I was impressed with them at the Mentone. Its really clean and the breakfast is excellent.
I would just reorganise the bedroom a little! There needs to be a mirror near a plug point which there wasn't, and needs to be a little table at each side of the double bed, then it would be perfect!
nice room/shower room,
stairs and a noisy neighbour.
Location, basement room but quite nice
The staff here are friendly
The facilities in the room are old, the light of window is dark.
Good english breakfast included. Close to several metro stations
Nice location, short walk to the tube (Russel) and St. Pancras, good (full English) breakfast, would be just splendid if they added some fresh fruit...
Steep stairs could be uncomfortable for older people, no lift...
Location, close to underground
Wifi is not stable enough and slow
Very clean, food was lovely, room was nice, great price.
The floorboards were very squeaky from the room above, for about 2 hours solid late evening and several times during the night it sounded like several people were pacing the floor upstairs. Very difficult to get young children to sleep and keep them settled.
The position of the hotel was excellent for my travel needs
the breakfast was lovely, excellent choice and service.
the climb up to the third floor
That staff know me and treat me very well. Also I do not need "frills" - just a comfortable night's sleep and a quiet room which this hotel does provide which I was given on this occasion
Rooms at the front which can be noisy when people come in late or talk loudly and bang the doors
The hotel was bright with signs of recent redecorating and my single room was small but adequate. Although at the front of the building it had a good thick curtain to keep out most of the street lights, and I found the bed comfortable. I had a problem having left my iphone on a train but Peter in Reception was most helpful although it was unfortunate that the hotel's phone system went down. The breakfast in the morning was comprehensive and presented quickly.
For its price, I could not find any fault.
