Spacious accommodation, good seaviews from lounge and restaurant plus good to have sauna and indoor pool. Our room was very quiet - except for fire alarm!
Radiators were not working properly but an additional heater was quickly supplied. We were not expecting raucous crowds and loud music at dinner and would have gone elsewhere for dinner had we known.
Kept awake at night due to air ducts banging. Got up out of bed and complained on second night after a bad first night. Staff member came to room and the noise had stopped, and of course when he went it started again. I can't see that this was the first complaint about this so why is it not sorted?
Excellent location overlooking the sea and the Bay. Good size room with good size balcony too. Friendly staff. Good parking facilities. handy for town, shops, Bournemouth International Centre, Pavillion etc.Breakfast pretty good.
Had Sunday lunch which although adequate had little appeal apart from the pudding which was excellent.
Poor sound insulation in our first room which meant that we had to move after the first night because of loud music from an adjacent building until 4.00am.
The hotel itself was very good. The staff friendly and helpful.
I did ask for a disabled room but didn't get one. The room was exceptionally large but the bed although comfortable was so high I had to get help from my husband to get in and out.
Large comfortable bed, room great size, and a big bath.
Breakfast, good selection but dried up!! we never saw more than eight guest of a , morning surely the chef could have cooked fresh! which would have been so much nicer, and would have saved some wast, im sure.
check allocated our room again after we checked in causing another couple access to our room who entered just as I was leaving the shower reception did not answer the phone the food was poor value the so called twice cooked chips were cold and still raw in middle the sausages at brealfast were also not cooked properly
Breakfast was a disappointment , run out of semi skimmed milk, restocking was slow had to wait for more eggs, beans , sausages . Although we were happy with our room, many of our party were not, hotel needs some TLC
Great position overlooking sea.
Room too hot. Rather a long wait for hot buffet food at breakfast.
Liked the view, size of the room. Comfy bed.
When I ran a bath the water was yellow/red from rusty pipes. Told to leave running but still not good. Needs better bathrooms.
The dining room, the bar and lounge the bedroom and the sea view.
For the first time I used the pool and sauna, I would like the changing rooms to be cleaner the shower in the ladies area has mildew, not what I would expect of the Carlton.
Lovely staff. Warm, comfortable large room. Nice extras included bottled water. Linen tablecloths even for breakfast. Often stay here. Never disappointed.
The location was excellent. Car parking on site. Good facilities. Nice breakfast. Large room.
Some staff a bit grumpy. Not bothered if you want to extend your stay. WiFi very slow.
Nice location on the Cliff of Bournemouth to take off from to roam by foot around town. Facilities very nice; large firm bed, large bathroom, excellent breakfast selection and Bar that stayed open late after Imelda May concert.
My Whiskey Sour was a bit light, but the bartender appeared rather green.
Next to beach. Convenient location.
Poor breakfast. No scrambled egg.
Very spacious room and location was idea for walking into the town
Booked afternoon tea but found the conservatory was a bit of a mess due to a wedding taking place. Also if you wanted a drink in the bar after returning from a night out it was very hard to find staff to serve you and when they did they dissapeared again
The hotel is well positioned on the East Cliff with easy access to the shops and beach. The hotel comprises a once grand Victorian building with direct sea views and is generally very elegant and a pleasant place to stay, and we found it to be clean during our short visit.
The bedroom whilst reasonably nice with direct sea views was let down by the dated, old and basic bathroom- all the sanitaryware and taps needed to be updated as did the wall tiling and flooring to bring it up to the standard expected of a 4 star hotel in 2014.A small effort had been made to update by renewing some of the grouting and there was a modern granite surface around the old washbasin.
I was so impressed with the Menzies Carlton Hotel Bournemouth I booked a single room for 2 nights - Fri & Sat which cost £120. 00 For room only. Very reasonable for the high quality this hotel offers. On booking the room there was a 'specific requests' option which allowed me to ask for a quiet room with sea view, both these requests were met. The hotel location was excellent, the room with double bed was beautiful inc everything required for a relaxing comfortable stay. Both still & sparkling bottles of water provided in the room the food was delicious but the restaurant was expensive the cheapest meal on the evening menu was a fresh crab dish with prawns & lobster sauce at £16.00. I would definitely return to the Menzies Carlton and highly recommend.
I was sad to leave......
Good menu and good quality food. The location is superb, right opposite the beach on East cliff and a lovely short walk down to the town centre. The hotel could probably do with the rooms refurbished as some of the furniture looking a little dated and shabby but the bed was comfortable and it wouldn't put me off returning to this hotel.
Excellent reception staff. Very friendly, smart and professional. My single room was not tiny and had some style.
My fried egg at breakfast was completely solid but the waitress responded quickly by bringing me a freshly cooked egg.
Bathroom was in poor condition needs updating plug in the sink and bath nit working door scratched poor paint work Bathroom windows poor condition and unable to open bedroom windows only 1 could open appearance if 2 to 3 star rather then 4 star hotel dining was poor menu out if date served food poor quality
Staff were very friendly. Lovely room and bottles of water and individual packaging of pieces of rock was a lovely touch. Good selection at breakfast too.
Seemed to be a bit of trouble with key cards which on a couple of occasions wouldn't let me into the room which meant a trip down to reception to sort. Quite a few other people had the same problem.
location good sauna
small pool slowly wifi
large clean room with very comfortable large bed.
Info said 24 hour room service but didn't make it clear that after 10 only sandwiches available. Came back starving, expecting to order a meal. Had to make do with sandwiches. No choice of bread. Sandwiches arrived on slates with small portion of crisps. No napkin. Bread was dry, crisps were stale. Quite outrageous. Because we were so hungry we ate it. And had to pay extra £3.50 for tray service! Not the sort of service we would expect.
The room was nice.
I thought the staff were not very helpful. I was a single traveller travelling with a 3 month old baby and luggage. Noone offered to help me and while I was checking out the staff members were talking to one another. I was clearly struggling carrying my baby and luggage and was not offered any help. I would offer someone help even if I wasnt staff. I wouldnt stay there again.
