The ambience was just perfect, The magnificant building in beautiful surroundings , and brilliant golf and spa facilities, The staff were lovely, and very efficient, the gourmet food is fantastic and delicious. breakfast was great, plenty of choice and generous self service. Sept 2011. The basic rooms are looking a little tired and bathrooms need some tlc and updating , showers etc. Only other draw back the basic room we stayed in was at the side where the trades worked and was far too noisy in the early hours with very loud banging and a lot of activity going on, We did'nt feel too rested in the mornings due to this.

It felt like a real treat although extremely affordable. The location was fantastic, secluded and yet a short walk into Stratford. Spa, gym and pool facilities as well as excellent and attentive staff made for a fantastic stay.

Beautiful setting and close enough to Stratford to use taxis. We liked the newly refurbished room we had but the hotel maintained a traditional charm. We are staying again in July this year with our children. We highly recommend.

The communal rooms were superb, dining a delight with some of the best food for the price I have had for a ling time, service was immaculate. Breakfast excellent, Spa facilities were superb. The bedrooms were a little tired (but very clean) and could do with a makeover. My 14 year old daughter was not able to have her nails manicured in the Spa due to 'insurance reasons', which seems a little bizzare and bureaucratic. I understand the whole children in spas thing but she is a mature 14 and a manicure is hardly a treatment likely to result in complications.

Wonderful historic building and beautiful grounds. Good spa, pool and gym facilities. Dining area too small to cope with amount of guests, ended up having breakfast on my knee in the lounge.

On the whole the hotel was excellent, however one little thing that spoiled it slightly for us was the attitude of the head waiter when booking a table in the restaurant, first of all we were told they were fully booked and he might be able to squeeze us in later if people leave, however a little later we were told a table was free and upon entering the restaurant were surprised to see there were plenty of free tables, secondly we asked if we could choose a meal off the lounge/bar menu as the main restuarant menu had limited choice for vegetarians only to be told that this was not possible. Hardly a customer friendly attitude or approach.

The spa and food makes the Menzies hotel, the breakfast and main meal that we had were great! We had a package for 2nights including one main meal and 2 breakfasts, which made the cost Very worth while. The spa is lovely and is what really makes the hotel! Nice to have a bit of luxury! The hotel itself is lovely, the only Quarm I have is maybe the rooms are a little tired, and could do with a freshen up on the decor, (our Room was fine, my aunties were a little tired, the bed very old and worn, but was very clean and all in all was a really nice stay, will def be coming back

we stayed in an apartment which was excellent value for money, we found the breakfast and evening meal very enjoyabe. The swimming pools indoor and outdoor and amenities were really good. We would definately stay at this hotel again. only complaint is the distance to town it is really necessary to use a taxi when going to the theatre in the evening.

The house is impressive and set in stunning grounds. The staff were helpful and generally efficient. The spa is well appointed and comfortable. The hotel was mainly great, but a few niggles were irksome and below expectation for a luxury resort. For example: no dressing gowns were provided in the room or spa; dinner was over-priced, over-puréed, and over-cooked; brandy was served in a whiskey glass with ice! However, these were minor irritations in an otherwise good resort.

The setting of the hotel was very good. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The lounge area, and real fire, was so relaxing. The room was also very good. The breakfast and afternoon tea were of the highest quality. The room service on the second night was very good. We were staying at the hotel for 2 nights and we were unable to book a table in the restaurant for either night. This was the first time I have stayed in a quality hotel and not been able to eat in the restaurant. We would also have expected the room to have had a shower. The bathroom was of high quality and just lacked a shower. We would also have expected a better quality television that was easier to view from the bed.

From the moment we arrived we could not fault the staff, they were attentive, professional, courteous and knowledgable. As it was my partners birthday we recieved a free upgrade which was a great surprise. In our deal was breakfast and dinner, sadly the breakfast on both mornings let down the side. The Spa was really good with fantastic facilities. We can't wait to go back. For a Hotel with 2 aa Rosettes the breakfast needs a bit of work!!!!! It's not a good idea to garnish breakfast with salad leaves.

The staff above all- friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. The fireplace, the spa all excellent. Beautiful grounds, with lovely walks all around. The dinner menu was unusual, but excellent. The coffee and tea at breakfast was awful !

The staff was very friendly and professional and the facilities were superb. Our rooms were very clean, and extremely well appointed and we were travelling with our whippet, so to find a hotel that's pet friendly and so luxurious is a real treat! The continental breakfast was fantastic and with a great selection of juices, fruit, c,wreaks and breads / patisseries. We shall definitely return! The only thing I would say is that the mattress was a bit lumpy and we found ourselves rolling to the middle of the bed, but we still had a good night sleep. And I wouldn't let that put me off staying there again.

Staff extremely helpful when I wanted to swim in the morning and sorted us out when we found a piece of plastic in one of our meals. Overall we were so satisfied with our stay that we are considering going back next year. My brother and I always meet up somewhere equidistant from both our houses (he lives in Yeovil and I live in Biggleswade). It is a jolly way to exchange our presents and have a lovely time catching up. If you can come up with a package even better than that we have just expereienced we might be interested. Thank you to all the staff. Only minor problem with plastic in one of our dinners. Would have liked more information on accessing the spa and the swimming pool rather than bother the already very busy staff.

Great welcome, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Our basic room was superb and I guess the odd cobweb was hard to reach with the high ceilings.Good food as you'd expect. Spa and pool were excellent- you wouldn't think they were 6 years old. Best I've used in a long while. The odd cobweb
