I looked at a lot of reviews and decided on the Merseside based on the majority of reviews, staff were 1st class, food was brilliant, breakfast was spot on and the evening meals were a delight, they have great chefs and I can honestly say I could not fault anything. I had a upgraded room room 4, it had everything you would need a spotless. I would have no hesitation in staying again and would 100% recommend this hotel. Well done to all the staff and keep it up. Chris from Bristol.

It was conveniently situated. I could come and go as I pleased. There were proper sheets and thick towels It was a double room, and luckily I was on my own as there was only one chair to sit up to.

Really nice staff who went out of their way to help. Relaxed atmosphere in the bar and great breakfast. A little bit pricey to stay.

The hotel is kept in first class condition with large comfortable rooms. The bar and breakfast room is excellent, with great food and wonderful local real ales. Evening meals are also good value and great quality. Some will be put off by the location being part way up a hill. Parking can also be a challenge.

My room was spacious and comfortable, the iron and ironing board tucked away in the wardrobe was a good idea. The people working there were friendly and helpful and nicely informal.Breakfasts were good but the real treat was the quality of food served in the evening, generous portions, good presentation and top-class cooking. Although it's convenient for the promenade, it does tend to suffer somewhat in terms of location from the presence of a number of run-down, closed hotels, but that's not the fault of the Mereside and I imagine they would only be too happy to see everywhere else up and running.

The courtesy on arrival, the willingness to assist in any way, the staff being prepared to "go the extra mile" to help and accomodate.

Quiet location just off the promenade, convenient for shops promenade and facilities. Safe bicycle storage in secure room or locked to railing off the road on bar decking. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice . Up a short but steep incline - not suitable for wheelchair users. Little/no space for parking outside. Some noise from main bar/restaurant below on most evenings until 11.00pm. The rest of the time very quiet.

The rooms were spacious and well fitted. The whole building has been refurbished to a high standard. The free WiFi was useful. The staff were very helpful. The only parking available is on the streets. It is free but there is always uncertainty about how far away we would have to park.

Unfortunately we arrived very late (11.30pm) and left very early (6.30am)so I cannot comment on food - breakfast and evening meal were both missedWe only stayed one night but the room was very clean and comfortable so I was pretty impressed. The one member of staff we did meet was very welcoming and a credit to the hotel. Regards Steve

I could come and go as the doors had a code to allow a late return safely at night times. The bed was completely broken to the point I fell out of it twice during my stay. Also the mirrors were so low to the ground I had to kneel down when using the one in the bathroom. Great if you are under 4 feet tall, otherwise useless.

“I liked the brightness of the foyer with the bar and rest areas on both sides, giving the hotel a relaxed but still formal atmosphere. The room I stayed in was perfect for a one night business stay, couldn't ask for more, and the price included breakfast. Good value for money.” Ian, Runcorn |
