Nothing! It was absolutely the worst hotel I have stayed in for a while! Even in a guesthouse in Cambodia the staff is friendlier, the rooms would be cosier and the value for money wouldn't be an issue Everything! Location is miles away from everything taxi is about 10£ to centre - staff on arrival give you the colour of the stay straight away! Really bad customer service 5% additional charge if u pay by cc - hotel is old, shabby and very dirty! You will be able to even take part in your room neibours conversations since the aoudad prooofing is so bad! No one at reception after 9pm! Anyone can enter! And check out at 10.30 we where just getting ready to leave when the woman from reception knocked in our door at 10.36 hoisting we had to leave! Absolutely apawling do not book or stay there - so many nicer places in Edinbugh for same or cheaper!

For what we paid it was more than adequate. Location was about a half hour walk from Edinburgh city centre or a 10 min bus ride (which stopped right outside the hotel) As we don't mind walking about it was perfect for us. Staff were friendly, room was clean and just somewhere to lay our heads down, couldn't ask for more really.

A bus stop is just outside the hotel so you can easily get into town within 15 mins. I travel weekly, staying in many different hotels and B&B's, and have never felt so uncomfortable at an establishment. The hosts really need to learn that a smile can go a long way in making up for the downfalls of a business. Furthermore, a bit of detail (like fixing falling curtains and a half decent bed - I was sleeping on springs) is definitely required. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. Their slogan "Luxury on Economy" does not have to imply "stingy" in this day and age - sadly, that is what one received.

Nice little budget hotel. Bus stop to the city centre right outside the hotel - from there it takes 10 mins and all day bus pass costs just £3.50. Staff were very nice and helpful and although quite basic, the included breakfast does the job nicely. If you're looking for a low price this hotel is great and good budget value.

It is value for money plus good location. I had to pay cash for my stay as their payment terminal did not accept my credit card for some reason. Personnel was not so friendly.

Price was reasonable. Close to area we were going to. Parking, although it was on street it was free. Had good facilities in the room and offered a continental breakfast in the price.

For the price I paid this was a real bargain, the staff are Friendly and welcomming. We arrived early for check in and the Manager asked the Housekeeper to do our room first. The room was clean and tidy it had everything in it that we needed. At some hotels we have been to in Edinburgh you dont get Breakfast but at the Merith we got a Continental included...BARGAIN. Bus stop right outside the Hotel to Princes Street cost £1.30 each way or day pass for £3.20. Staff was good with information as to what to visit and where to eat. Will definetly use the Merith again when we return to Edinburgh. Everything was perfect for us.

The Merith House Hotel is in my opinion highly recommandable. The room was small but we had everything we needed and it was cleaned every day. The busstation is in front of the hotel and busses go regularly including night busses. It takes about 10 minutes to the city centre. The hotel stuff is very friendly and helps you E.G. booking day trips. The breakfast is of coffee/tee, toast and jam, and cornflakes. It's not much, but still better than nothing and anyway- considering the costs overall, I would always choose the Merith House Hotel !

We were on a budget, which was the reason we chose this hotel. The room was small, but everything went perfect. Since the staff wasn't always there, you take the keys everywhere, there's no curfew. The heating was really good, even with the cold Edinburgh weather. The bus stop is literally in front of the hotel, and buses are frequent, just 10 minutes from the city center. Overall, a very pleasant stay. If you're paying with a credit or debit card, they will charge you 5% more.

Clean and warm and cheap. A good value for money. I would recommend it to a friend. The room was a bit too small, but as we stayed in the room just to have a shower and to sleep, that was not a problem. A bit far from the city centre, but there is a bus station just in front of the hotel.

The hotel was situated on a main road with a 10 mins bus journey into the town centre, it was £1.30 for any distance travelled, or £3.20 for the day to travel as much as you wanted. We arrived early after a 2 hour trip from ayr and was able to check in no problem. The owners were very nice and helpful. They gave us loads of information on getting around and there were lots of leaflets in the reception for things to do. The only thing that was of trouble was that when we arrived we understood you would only be charged an admin fee for credit card transactions, but it was debit & credit cards they charged for, it was only 5% though!

They are currently undergoing a referb downstairs which looks very nice. When we arrived they weren't full so they put us in the largest room (10) at the top which was great and at no extra charge. The bed had lovely clean sheets and the bathroom was clean but could do with some referb work of its own. Location was great with the choice of two buses going into town every 10 mins. Overall I wasn't too disappointed. We loved Edinburgh and would recommend the Mussel Inn in Rose Street. The people are very friendly.
