It is really a workmens b& b, nothing wrong with that if you are okay with it. Distant from anything else
Location, friendly staff, very helpful, let us store bikes inside.
It's a pub not a hotel.
Staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Hotel has seen better days but it was a one night stay and served the purpose. Breakfast was very relaxed, no staff but everything laid out for you. I would stay there again for that price. I paid £36 for a double room including breakfast. Staff fabulous!!!
No possibility of getting an evening meal.
The view of Widnes bridge is spectacular and there is plenty of wild bird life to watch!. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The breakfast was poor.
Friendly staff, great beer garden, nice clean room, and amazing value for money!
The caring consideration of the graduate student ..who came out and showed us where the car park was as we had missed it completely..that same young history student also showed us to our rooms and carried our cases for two oap's bless her. Sadly we didn't see her after that. But we wish sincere blessings for her future.
Having one towel ..No hand towels ..on our first morning down -was told by lady who was cleaning..we don't do them !! On our 2nd morning down we told her that we had not had any tea/coffee or tray done the previous night (we washed our own cups) ..her reply ..you should have come down an seen Brad ??.....and having to put a blanket over the mattress because of the irregular uncomfortable springs.
View of bridge and river stunning. While no evening meal, a short still down street to local Chinese Fish n Chips meant a great chat with friendly locals and an excellent meal.
The view of the Runcorn bridge over the river Mersey, the room was very comfortable, friendly and welcoming staff and regulars, nice big beer garden out the back to enjoy the sunshine!
lovely out look
Bar area a bit tired
The location was ideal for our purposes.
The rooms ned a bit of up-grading.
Liked the price great value for money
Friendly bar staff
The prices have gone up to £37 that put me off,and I,ve been going for quite a few years.but not this trip
Not really anything.
The picture on the site looks like a stately home, but when you get there it's a tired run down pub with delapidated rooms that haven't been renovated and modernised in some time. Trying to get into the room while the hall light switch stays on for a maximum of ten seconds leaving you in the dark. Bedroom is adequate but old fashioned and overlooking the Runcorn bridge which traffic travels throughout the night. Toilet, washroom, shower appaling. A big crack in the polystyrene ceiling tiles, a chemical toilet which makes a dreadful noise everytime it's used, as for the shower I didn't feel like using it as it looked so awful. Missed breakfast, big disorganisation on leaving only a cleaner available no one seemed to know if he had already paid for the room or not. A total shambles, wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.
Shower control handle fell off . Grubby and dated. Hotel is badley in need of refurbishment. Cobwebs in room. Exspecting cooked breakfast which consisted of cerials and toast. Grubby hotel.
The proprietor was lovely very friendly and helpfull. I only stayed 1 night due to work and it was adequate although the bed was not so comfortable. The breakfast was cereal toast and fruit which was enough, just help yourself
The place is a local pub with rooms but it is clean and very easy for Liverpool which is what I needed.
The view of the bridge. The friendly staff. The comfy bed. The lovely room.
The noisy cistern which filled with water every 10 minutes.
The staff was friendly especialy Anne who i really enjoyed talking to at breakfast about the local history and the runcorn bridge. Even allowed me extra time before i had to vacate the room, I relly enjoyed my few days away and hoping to go back later in the year. Its excellant value for money if on a tight budget.
The only problem i had was the tea and coffee was not refilled. But this did not take anything away from the stay.
Staff were very friendly.Checking in possible late at night, past midnight on a weekday.Pub open for a good night cap and lovely Jukebox music.Excellennt View from rooms.
The friendliness of the staff.
The noise of the pub downstairs.
Made to feel very welcome by both the staff and the regular customers. The bed was big and comfy and the T.V in my room was exceptional, though be warned that this was the exception. The view of Runcorn bridge was amazing from my window and gave off no traffic noise..
I would have liked at least a bacon roll for breakfast but what was at hand "toast, cereal and tea" filled a gap..having said that I would visit again without any problem.
Great room with view over river
The room was quite large.
The location; it was right under a bridge and it was noisy. I did not like the area.
Accessibility i.e. a short walk from Runcorn station. V. helpful staff booking a minicab for me in the morning
