Merton Hotel  

The staff were amazing - extremely friendly and had great local knowledge. Very accomadating when the booking was presented incorrectly to them on the day of arrival and moved us to a lovely room!

This is our second visit to the Merton.The hotel is big but well laid out, clean and tidy with very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet catered for all tastes with a good choice of food and drinks. The room was large and well fitted. Both my wife and I slept as well, if not better than at home. The location is good with a 10 minute walk to the shops or the promenade. We only ate in one of the restaurants in the evening but the food was good with a good choice. All the staff that we had contact with were polite and helpful. There is a large car park which may be busy at times but we had no problems in parking our hire car (which had a discounted rate through the hotel). We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

The hotel had been open only 2 weeks after the winter season ended, so there were some teething problems. My 11 year old son and I were put in a room above the bar area. When the live band started up in the evening the noise was horrendous and we were unable to sleep. When I complained the duty manager was very understanding and we were moved to a quieter room immediately. The next morning the shower didn't work and the plumber arrived very quickly to fix the problem. I was served the wrong meal in the hotel restaurant Jersey Joes and no member of staff at the restaurant was willing to rectify the mistake and I was made to feel that I was a nuisance - an unpleasant experience, but the duty manager stepped in and resolved the issue. It was Inconvenient for sure, but the way in which the problems were handled couldn't be faulted. The majority of the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Overall our stay was an enjoyable one.

Some staff at breakfast were sometimes rather sullen - a smile wouldn't go amiss and it would be nice if they could top up guests tea/coffee cups. I had to seek out a member of staff for a top up every morning and even resorted to topping up my own cup on occasions. Maybe it would be easier to give guests a pot of tea/coffee?

Could not fault any of the services provided food was very good and entertainment.Staff very helpfull in all aspects.

Was with 10yr old granddaughter so the proximity of swimming facility helped to round off our days touring around the Island. Bonneti's Restuarant served good food with excellent staff.

Parking immediately outside the hotel was necessary as we had a disabled person but often quite difficult getting out of space when cars parked in coach bay opposite.

Very comfortable hotel

I always find the Staff helpfull and plesant and the facilaties offer a range of relaxation and entertainment, mixed with a wide choice of high quality food.

Aquadome good. Parking facilities.

Rooms small. View non-existant. Obviously used by saga full time in Autumn months!! Entertainment not soundproofed - no sleep until squawking finished.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was smartly decorated the swimming pool and gym were very useful and the parking very handy the hotel is also situate near enough to be able to walk into town very enjoyable stay and will be booking again shortly

The hotel is clean well located, meals are very good and staff particularly reception staff are excellent.

Very nice resortlike hotel. Nice variation of restaurants, good quality of food. A lot of nice activities for the kids. The swimming pool both indoor and outdoor and slides, was great. Walking distance from the city center.

An excellent choice for families. A good choice of restaurants and food choices too. The flow rider is excellent and the staff from reception to the concierge to the cleaners to the waitresses/ waiters and the poolside staff where all excellent. We would definitely go back for a long weekend break. An best of all kids love it.
