Metro Inns Newcastle  

Upon arrival having booked on line,there was no reservation details available which led to some confusion. The room had a broken blind,dirty carpet. Although the bed was comfy clean and made daily. Towels are readily available as required. Only one socket at the desk area and two above the bed. No plug for the wash basin, showers and wc are clean and adequate. A kettle in the rooms would sufice.

It was comfortable and ideal for anyone visiting for nightlife and looking for a cheap place to get your head down.

The toilets were like airplane toilets and the shower was a walk down a corridor. Occasionally the toilet or shower lights would go off so you would be showering in the dark.

Value for money. The location. Friendly staff.

The standards of maintenance could be better. Such things as window blinds, wash stand plugs (or the lack of them) and room lighting. Some of the 'self cleaning' WC's and showers don't seem to 'self clean' consistently.

Although the rooms were basic they were clean and comfortable. There was a good temperature throughout the Metro Inn and the opportunity to change it (heaters etc) It was close to a range of shops selling food, electricals and clothes.

The toilets and showers weren't very clean and the locks were hard to use.

There is only one thing to like about the Metro Inn and that is the price.

This hotel is not suitble for families or disabled adults because there is far too many large groups of rowdy youngsters who use the hotel for their crazy weekends.

You can ear every footstep along your corridor and outside your door. The room had a broken wall light cover & broken plug socket and the window blind was in a terrible condition with a piece of plastic carrier bag being used as the catch.

The accommodation was very basic but that was reflected in the price

Staff: Great to have a chat too :) very helpful, very friendly. Location: Near Airport, only 2 stops away on the metro if your catching a plane, great to just sit and watch planes take off and land from the benches out side Toby Carvery. Price: Very cheap for the hotel, only cost £20 per night, and we stayed for a total of three. The rooms don't have toilets or showers in them but there is shared showers and toilets (all in individual cubicals with locks). At the price you can't complain at the there being to toilets in the rooms. Close to pub - Toby Carvery: Toby Carvery does great meals all day long for good prices. Other: There is 1 Cold drinks vending machine, 1 hot drinks vending machine and 1 snacks vending machine. Also a kettle and a toaster at reception, make sure you bring your own cups and tea spoons and tea and coffee as not supplied.

Noisey Guest (Not hotels fault): Only bad thing about the stay was another person staying at the hotel kept making a lot of noise and being aggressive to staff, so it wasn't staffs fault only that other person, too much drink for him, if you can handle your drink, Dont drink! Smokers: Also if you are a smoker, and are going, it's great they have six smoking rooms, but if your going and some of your friends who will be in the same room as you don't smoke, I recommend getting a non smoking room, and just going outside to smoke, as they smell a lot fresher. (we were in a Smoking room at first, and then after the other guest at the hotel making a lot of noise they moved us into a non-smoking room which we were very happy with because it smelled a lot fresher) Smelley Sink: When your near the sink and start running the tap there is a strange smell that comes from it Overall the hotel was great to stay at.

Excellent location, easy to find off the a1. Excellent value.

It's a shame the room tv didn't have a remote!

We booked 2 fairly large triple room with 3 single beds and there was a picture of the room. However the room we were given was a large cupboard with bunk beds, a double on the bottom and a single on the top. Me do not want to sleep together, we were not happy but told that's all you have. it seems the tripple room in the photograph does not exist. As this room was already paid for we did not have more money to spend o another hotel. I hope you will compensate for this. I will also check with trading standards as this was not what we booked and we have the photo to prove it. Hope to hear from you soon.
