Menzies Mickleover Court HotelEtwall Road, Mickleover, DE3 0XX Derby (Show map) Excellent, Score from 186 reviews“Initially I thought the location on a roundabout would be a problem but I have to say that it wasn't. First impressions of the hotel as you walk in are lovely and the room didn't disappoint. Everything was immaculate, the staff were friendly and dealt well with a 3yr old who desperately wanted to help them. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, we had a lovely meal and enjoyed the pool very much. Thank you for a great stay!!”

The rooms were excellent and spacious, enjoyed relaxing in the pool, overall service was very good, although we were charged for pool towels which was later refunded. There was a large wedding party and we expected to hear some noise from the festivities, but had we have not seen the bride, we would not have known they were there.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, very good fitness suite and pool. Reasonable rates make it very good value for money. Main restaurant menu was not very appealing, especially for teenagers, and a bit overpriced. The Lounge food menu was good, but the service was shocking, around an hour to have food served on both nights we were at the hotel.

Very pleasant and relaxing, staff very friendly and helpful. We would definately stay again. It was unfortunate that we found the traffic noise rather disturbing during the night.

It was very convenient for Alton Towers, rooms spacious and could accomodate an extra bed. Pool and jacuzzi very welcome after a day at the theme park. Restaurant food was expensive and overpriced for the portions and quality served. Even my children required 3 courses to fill them up. Room was a bit smelly on arrival and could have done with some fresh air or room spray.

Had a wonderful stay here - the staff are excellent; it is a credit to them all on their customer service and how welcomed they make you feel. They have a lot to be proud of. The room was lovely, but I booked a room with a balcony and didn't get that, carpet little stained. Facilities are lovely; steam room, sauna and pool is well designed. Food was beautiful. Booked room with balcony and didn't receive this and the carpet had few stains, which let the room down slightly.

We booked there mainly for the facilities for my child (pool), only to be told on arrival that the pool was out of action, which was upsetting for her. No effort was made to compensate her in any way prior warning by e-mail would have been appreciated, thus putting a dampener on her visit.

Very nice, clean hotel. All staff were exceptionally polite - kudos to the bar staff in particular for being kind and attentive. Rooms were well stocked, nice to be in a hotel that gives a proper selection of tea and coffee in the room for a change. The rooms were a tad worn out, both in terms of decor and conditions of items. Shower heads could do with replacing they were ancient and had a silly trickle of water to wash yourself with), air conditioning unit was old and non functional (really needed it during my stay as it was quite warm). Wall switches were also non functional or just odd in operation (case in point - towel switch rail probably should have been removed, Light switches were odd, the main switch didn't properly control all of the lights and the bedside light switches didn't work). Very picky really, but would like to point these out, overall the hotel was excellent.

A good selection in the bar!! Very polite staff!! My bathroom smelled of sweat!! And my wardrobe smelled of vomit!! Maybe air fresheners might help!! Also I chose a non smoking room but someone outside on one of the balconies was smoking and it was wafting into my room!!! I have stayed here many times and will return because overall it's a fabulous hotel!! Just needs air freshener!!!

This hotel is run and serviced by wonderful staff. Nothing is too much as I found out when I asked if a bouquet of flowers could be placed within our room as a supprise for my girlfriend when we arrived. Breakfast on a weekend concludes at 10.30. We went down on Monday morning at 10.15 to be placed but found the doors closed and restraunt void of diners with a note on it,stating weekdays last serving at 9 .The manager walked passed asking if we have enjoyed our stay with them, then after we explained our breakfast time missfortune he re opened the resteraunt, sat us down and proceded to take our order himself calling back the cheff who cooked us a personal breakfast with all the trimmings. Personal touches seem to be the norm at Menzies.Roll on our next visit. Thanks to all Pawlo

We were in Derby for a family christening, we chose the hotel as it had a pool and our two year old loved it, very child friendly with the shallow part of bubbles and other water feature. Beds were comfy and breakfast had plenty of choice.

It's relaxing and if you ate staying away for business it allows you unwind in comfort. The leisure facilities are a massive bonus also. I tend to find myself on each visit, in the gym. Which is a blessing if you ate on your own and so not wish to work or just sit in front of the telly!

The staff all had a perfect blend of being attentive, not hovering or in your face, friendly without being overfamiliar, and couldn't do enough to help. Restaurant even searched out instant coffe for my Mum!! Lovely, relaxing pool, not too busy. Beds comfy; bedrooms nice size. Great breakfast. Perfect for a family get together weekend. Not too many little children! Appropriate price/quality ratio.

Excellent value for money, with fridge, hairdryer, balcony, superb wardrobe space and large en suite room with very comfortable beds. We had a wonderful city stay as well as touring the Derbyshire Dales. Visited the Titanic Exhibition at Derby Royal China and the Westfield Shopping Centre and Showcase Cinema.
