Menzies Mickleover Court Hotel  

The hotel was great exactly what we needed for an overnight stay. The breakfast was really good and the staff very helpful. I would definitely reccomend this hotel

I like how the hotel is set out. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Leisure facilities very good.

Ideally placed midway between the 2 attractions we wanted to visit, The Derbyshire Dales and the National Memorial Arboretum. The service was great, particularly in the Restaurant and the Bar. The food was first class.

One small comment, that the cover on the room's 2 seater settee needed a clean, Room 118.

We arrived 09.00 on business we were welcolmed into the restraunt and the food was fantastic.

The furniture was too big for the room (I.E. walldrobe, tv stand) making the room feel small.

Pleasant atmosphere - friendly staff, good quality furniture/fittings, well looked after. Spacious, comfortable room. Good bed. Other guests were considerate in not making noise (no banging doors or loud TVs). Good breakfast.

Being quite close to the a38, traffic noise was noticeable in our room. The double glazing could/should have been more efficient but the heavy curtains helped reduce the noise. That said, it was quiet after 11:00pm and we slept well.

It suited our needs at short notice.

On arrival we were struck by the appearence, the cleanliness, the tranquillity and the general welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.

Staff on reception. No reference to eating in restaurant on arrival.She didnt seem to be aware we were half board. Then informed us restaurant was very busy and we would have to eat after 9pm.Said this was unacceptable and was then told that we could eat at 6.30.Restaurant, as it turned out wasn't too busy even when we left at 8pm! On checking out we were charged for the evening meal on top of the price quoted for half board. This was then readjusted but figure was still incorrect as I had to point out that my son's meal should have been charged with a 50% discount. They'd charged full price! Not too impressive! Pity as rest of staff were excellent.

The hotel was very clean and well run. They also have smoking rooms , very unusual, and the room didnt smell of cigs. The spa and pool were well maintained. We stayed on a 2 night break with free meal on the first night, the resturant was lovely and food good especialy the desert ! The most impressive part was the staff, they were friendly and curteous, .nothing seemed to much trouble. The bookings manager was very professional and sorted out a mistake, which was probably not their fault, without any fuss at all.

Although there was nothing wrong with the area, we had to drive to get anywhere of interest. This, by no means, soilt our enjoyment.
