Situated just 5 miles from central Oxford, The Talkhouse offers a traditional bar and restaurant.
Score from 261 reviews Very good
The wide, tree-lined market place in Brackley, with its Georgian and Victorian houses and shops, is the delightful setting for this 13th century coaching inn.

With an award-winning restaurant, The Holt Hotel is set in scenic rural Oxfordshire, on the edge of the Cotswolds. Built in the 1470s, it has individually styled rooms, a bar and free parking.

This comfortable accommodation has a charming, rural location at Panshill Wood Fishery, just 1.4 miles from Murcott. It is 9 miles from Oxford and 10 minutes' drive from Bicester.

Just everything, the hotel, the setting, the staff. Beautiful location. Immaculate spacious rooms.
Nothing not to be liked.
Quiet location Lovely setting Staff friendly
Tiny rooms and beds. Dinning room was very small and the breakfast average. The Bookings.com write up was not up to expectations. It is mainly a corporate accommodation package and not a genuine holiday location.
Good location and well maintained grounds. A good night's sleep but my stay was only brief.
Breakfast wasn't served early enough.
Rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Perfect for a short stay, has everything you need
Walls are very thin, got woke up several times throughout the night/morning as I could hear lots of different alarms
Room good and clean.
Arrived at 2040. Enquired about dinner only to be told service ended at 2030. Lots of people still eating so asked about a sandwich? Chef refused on the grounds that he had nothing (full English available 10 hours later!) excellent receptionist took pity on my plight and managed to produce soup and a cheeseboard. (both of which were excellent). Is 20 to 9 really that unreasonable a time to expect dinner? Good reception staff, intransigent Chef...
The location is excellent. Friendly staff. Rooms clean.
Single rooms a bit small. Breakfast, hot food is on a bit late. Evening menu only 2 choices
The high quality of everything in my room, very comfortable bed, tidy and clean. Very good first impression that continued during my stay
No non-slip mat in the bath which made me fearful of slipping while taking a shower.
Friendly staff, clean comfortable room
The location, the standard of the room. The cleanliness. The staff and service.
Being a solo traveller, I did not like the lower level of the room that I was given, from a safety aspect. It was ground level on overlooking the car park. For this reason,I was unable to open a window at night for fresh air. This made the teperature in the room feel uncomfortable.
Leek and goats cheese dinner was excellent.
Not enough choice on dinner menu.
Location was superb with beautiful gardens. Very friendly staff and nice room with pleasant view. Really good breakfast.
The pillows were not comfy.
Facilities & helpful staff
Mixing conference guests & bed & breakfast stays did not work well.
Really lovely rooms and breakfast
quiet place with very professional staff, great food with a good choice of menu each night. Will always try here first when in the area.
Friendly Staff, lovely surroundings, quiet, one hour drive to Heathrow
Small room (single room for 2 persons)
The location, lovely setting ... Shame such a beautiful setting & manor house has upvc windows.
On arrival at 10pm I was told my room was over there ...... & to find Pembroke building on my own in the dark. No one showed me to my room. The walls in the room were so paper thin you could hear absolutely everything from the room next door. Nothing private about it..... The next morning I went to breakfast but no one showed me where breakfast was. In the end I walked out of reception as I would have been late for work. No breakfast.... The room cleaning staff could not even sat hello when you met them. The following morning again no breakfast as I found the room myself & saw that it was one large table & I would have had to eat breakfast with everyone else staying there. I walked out it was not for me. When I went to pay for my room. I just paid my bill. There was no "good morning", "was everything ok", "did you enjoy your stay" no hospitality at all......
The location, The price is spot on.
Breakfast starts to late for people who have to be at work for 07.00. I think you should be offered aevening meal instead.
Noisy guests returning from the bar to their rooms
The staff were all excellent - some of them could not do enough such as offering to lay up for dinner wherever I liked! Beautiful location with a lovely terrace overlooking the lake.
The shower was a bit sparse.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean. Gardens were beautiful
Staffs were very welcoming. Very clean and comfortable accommodation and value for money.
Grounds are lovely. Evening meal and breakfast are very good.
Rooms are very small and really only suitable for single occupancy. Wouldn't want to stay there for more than a couple of nights.
Lovely main house and grounds. Beautiful outside dining terrace and bar area overlooking a lake. Fabulous location, very scenic with some lovely little surrounding villages with great local pubs. Fab breakfast.
The rooms in the out buildings were comfortable but surprisingly basic, especially the bathroom, considering how elegant the main house is.
Nice grounds. Nice although small room.
Evening meal was expensive, poor quality, and poorly presented and took 45 mins to arrive.
Fantastic scenery very quiet and relaxing
No restaurant menu on arrival or in room some staff lacking in knowledge of the area
