Friendly welcome, excellent food, good location for mountain biking in the lakes
if you want a location slightly out of the bigger towns, with excellent food and a great beer range, come here. A perfect base for the NW lakes and fells walks to several start from the village)
Friendly staff, very dog friendly attitude. Warm comfortable bedroom. Breakfast was very good.
Very small bathroom and a bit tired.
Service, welcome, food, drink
Hotel was very comfortable and the staff very welcoming. Food was excellent
Shower in our room wasn't great, lack of pressure, though there was plenty of hot water
Friendliness of staff
Service, Food, Location
Nothing except having to leave
I liked the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help.
There was nothing that I didn't like.
The location, the steak and ale pie, the range of real ales, the lady who serves breakfast, she is so friendly and welcoming, the bar area. Our third visit and had the best room so far. Thank you.
The shower! The water pressure is poor.
The welcome from Becky was excellent as was the staff, service and food. The location is great as you are not to far away from Keswick and are in an ideal location for walking in the fantastic scenery which you can also see from the hotel when you come back to relax
Great location Good food - but service slow at busy times Double room spacious and comfortable
Tiny single room under sloping roof totally unfit for purpose as an ensuite room - nowhere to put your stuff, can't stand up to use the toilet etc.
Room was good size, decorated in a country style which was in keeping with the building. Bed was crisp, clean and large! Good tea and coffee facilities in room and a tv too. Bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water, nice view out over the mountains, lots of complimentary toiletries in case you'd forgotten anything. Staff were welcoming, chatty, helpful, and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and you felt that they really valued your custom. Bar and restaurant had a chatty and relaxed buzz in the evening with a mix of locals and guests. Wide range of local beers and food was delicious! I had a vegetarian tart and my partner had a steak. He remarked on the quality of the steak. Main courses ranged in price from £9-£15 were well presented, generous portion size and tasty. Breakfast next morning was just as good. With a range of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and cooked breakfasts on offer.
We were in room 5 at the front of the building, next to the road so there was a bit of background road noise (we had the windows open) Also the room was above the bar area so there was a bit of chat noise from there for an hour or so after we went to bed. I sleep very easily so none of this bothered me, but my partner is a light sleeper and was more aware of it. I guess it depends on the individual traveller as to whether this would be a problem for you. It wasn't for us.
Great breakfasts. Lovely fresh bread .pleasant staff. Lovely evening meals
We received a warm welcome, and that friendliness continued throughout our stay.
Country setting. Proximity to other Lakes district towns and attractions.

The staff----absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. The English Breakfast. Wow----set me up for the whole day!!!
The shower in our bedroom needed to be updated and upgraded
Location comfort cleanliness and it was very reasonable for food and drink
couldn't fault anything
Rooms clean and comfortable staff friendly great food in large restaurant lovely area with nice outlook
Too many stairs up to room a bit awkward with luggage needs a bit of a tidy up outside but nice surprise on entering
Nice location quieter than Keswick. Good value for money and a nice breakfast complete the picture. Dog friendly but not imposing on dog phobes.
