It is a beautiful Manor House. Great staff serving efficiently with a wonderful attitude. The breakfast was lovely.
Good setting and nice staff
Asked for double bed and issued two singles pulled together, wasted what would have been a pleasant stay for us
Food was excellent, service was the best I ever had at a Hotel. Room was comfy with everything we needed
We went for a relaxing stay and we got one! It was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable, the facilities just right and the location was beautiful. We loved it, the coffee brought on a tray to us in the morning just made it even more special.
Limited dinner menu which seemed excessively expensive
Buildings, surroundings, atmosphere. Staff professional, helpful made us feel welcome. Very comfortable bed, great pool.
The fact we were only staying one night! One small niggle was the twin beds were very close together. Wouldn't stop me staying again but something I would check with hotel at time of booking.
Comfortable bed, feather pillows and crisp linens. Good heating. Luxurious bathroom products. Tin of home made shortbread biscuits. Silver tray tea service in the drawing room. Excellent staff, especially the chap who met my car and carried luggage. Excellent breakfast. Walled garden and beautifully kept grounds.
Food was good
Dining expensive & drinks overpriced.
We booked the trip as a pamper gift and we could not fault the experience, beautiful spa accomodation and grounds with curteous staff who couldn't be more helpful ! Also close to historic York...we will definetly be returning and would highly recommend it as an ideal break
It was the food that made the stay for us it was truly amazing, service splendid, everyone knew there job, I very very nice hotel with a special difference. Worth a birthday treat !
The atmosphere & Service
A little to warm with the underfloor heating in our room
Lovely location and excellent staff
Cost of room service £10 two pots of tea a bit steep
Location perfect Staff very courteous polite and attentive.
Room very small, bath room tiny. We often get an upgrade here but not this time. No tea coffee facility, you have to summon waiter No refrigerator for cooling drinks
Everything!! Service, staff, food, location, beautiful grounds
Comfortable room in the courtyard with TV, hairdryer and large bed. Spotlessly clean bathroom with bath and shower and lovely fluffy towels - plenty of hot water. The Spa just across the lane from the courtyard includes the swimming pool, which we had to ourselves. Full English breakfast was delicious with the additional choice of yoghurts, cereals and toast, juices and coffee or tea. The sitting room, library and restaurant were lovely elegant rooms. The gardens were well worth walking round. No tea making facilities in the room, however, this could be ordered at reception. Only 10 minutes drive into York.
Because the bed was larger than average, it was a bit difficult navigating round it.
The setting was fabulous and the oldy worldy feel was perfect. The house is worth a visit and having breakfast there was fab.
Great service, very friendly staff. Definitely recommend to others!
Had a lovely stay even though our room was poor we would still go back
Just the standard of the bedding and some of the furnishings which were tired
Excellent and helpful staff
Food and drink a bit pricey !
Everything else !
Very dim lighting in the rooms. I would like to see at least good night reading lights.
From my arrival to departure I enjoyed myself completely. Friendly staff, lovely comfortable room, gardens fantastic, spa very enjoyable, food scrumptious; what more can I say. I would definitely recommend Middlethorpe Hall and certainly hope to return.
The location, the building, the staff, the park - everything. Staff knowledgable and well-trained, friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. We received a free upgrade to a most beautiful room, and this added to our joy.
Having to leave was the most negative point. And if I have to mention something here - the spa is lovely and clean, but the changing rooms a bit cramped.
It was the most restful, lovely, well-run hotel I think i have ever stayed in. Impeccable.
No much to not like except the internet could use some help and you had to scramble to find plugs to recharge phones and tablets. But in a place like that, maybe you should just put them away.
Very friendly staff, period property with great lounge with high ceilings and lovely landscaped gardens. Great food and spa. Quiet in the property
Annex rooms small. Lots of traffic noise from A64 at the bottom of the gardens. Expensive but profits go to National Trust
