Hotel was poor standard defiantly not a four star. Room are very old fasioned, carpets were dirty lifted from the floor. Bathrooms were dirty and old cold water to shower. Dinner at the hotel was the worst I have ever had and the hotel Didnt even give a decent discount.. Service from the hotel was terrible. I would never recommend this hotel to any1.. Please think twice in booking this hotel.

Good Wi Fi in common parts and bar food good quality. The radiator in my room did not work and a very cold night was spent in my room. On checking out staff did not ask me whether I had enjoyed my stay or if there were any issues with my stay. It is all very well sending customer review forms like this after the stay but there was a poor impression given on leaving that staff did not care one jot whether my stay had been satisfactory - the focus was on paying for extras. A little more interest in my expereince of the hotel would not have gone amiss.

The room was not up to standard I expected. Room service food was poor. I ordered breakfast to the room which never arrived. I went down for breakfast in the end where some staff were to busy trying to clear away even though there was 30 mins left. There were only a few breakfast item left.

The food in the restaurant is good. The room we had was average. There were damp patches on the ceiling of the bathroom and the bedroom. The restaurant manager was rude and unaccommodating. I feel there is a need for staff training as the customer service was non exsistent.

Check-in staff were upbeat and knowledgeable. Despite requesting a quiet room through booking.com I had a room facing the railway line. I could block the noise by closing the windows, but then it was too hot to sleep and there was no a/C.

The rooms were very modern and the location was excellent for the train station and the shops. We booked an executive double, not sure if the room given was an executive room as the description was trouser press and setting area, there was no trouser press and one chair in the room (this was room 110) the down side was that our room was on the main road and this was noisy at times.

The Hallmark is very convenient for Derby station which is quite a way out of the city. The public areas, bar and and restaurant are very pleasant and the menus are good for a relaxing meal. The Hallmark is the old Midland Hotel and when it was converted the appearance was changed for the better, but in the older part of the hotel no attention was given to rectifying the really bad creaking floorboards. They are dreadful and could have been seen to as part of the original renovation. There is also no lift in the older part of the hotel.

I liked the look of the place, it's very pleasing to the eye. Also the room we booked online was exactly the same one as in the pictures. To be fair not alot of time was spent in the hotel. The breakfast finished at 9:30- very early and by 9;25 the bacon was hard and dry and the beans cold. Also no-one advised us where breakfast was. The welcome could have been better. On leaving the female receptionist advised me there was £3.60 to pay for drinks. I handed her the right change and she made a comment about paying with shrapnel. Just seemed a bit of an odd thing to say considering I paid with the exact amount asked. If the service had been a little more thoughtful I would have left a tip, but I wouldn't do that for nothing.

A comfortable, well located, no fuss, 'let you get on with life' hotel. The small general meeting/bar area can make it difficult to find a quiet area for a chat, especially when busy.

The hotel is well presented. I stay in Derby regularly and this is my hotel of choice. The check in staff are fast and friendly. The rooms are very big and the bathroom is clean and modern. I was late arriving and parking was scarce so I had to park in a disabled bay, guiltily. That said I was leaving early so it was no issue.
