Ideal position for train travellers. Former railway hotel with typical impressive architectural features both internally and externally. Calm and peaceful ambience.

The rooms advertised do not reflect the rooms offered which are tired and in need of refurbishment. This is not a 4 star hotel and vastly overpriced.

The room was lovely and spacious. It was nice to sit in the hotel garden, with a drink from the bar, shortly after we arrived. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and obliging.

All staff were helpful and very friendly. The room was large as was the bathroom (separate shower cubicle!). Food at dinner was tasty, plenty of choice. Breakfast food was plentiful. Hot food was hot and tasty. Again, service was fabulous. My request for modified coffee met with a smile and delivered promptly.

Mostly pleasant and functional enough: hugely convenient for the train.

The receptionist who acted like I was completely invisible for a good 5 minutes while she negotiated the number of flowers that should go in a vase or something with a phone booking. And I mean invisible: no eye contact, no smile: the non-person treatment. And then little madam took exception to the suggestion that she was rude, and needed some customer relations training!

Lovely stay, loved the hotel, the service and the restaurant staff were really friendly.

Easy to find and plenty parking spaces. Room pretty spacious. Even though it was directly facing the train station our room was very quite. 5 to 10 mins walk to shopping centre.

Right opposite train station. Good breakfast. Wifi worked well. Helpful friendly staff.

Decor in rooms which was obviously once very grand, is now starting to look a bit 'tired' in places. Front of hotel rooms suffer from significant traffic noise.

Rooms are always clean, Staff are always friendly and helpful. Really nice hotel to relax in for a short getaway or an overnighter. Near to town centre for other restaurants, bars and also the shops. Perfect for travelling to by train as the station is literally on the doorstep but does not make it a 'noisy' hotel.

The room and service were amazing. We just stayed over night to catch early train to london and was in a perfect location for this.

Didn't have our booking through the internet but luckily we had a print out so they rectified the error straight away and we were upgraded.

I was realy impressed on how welcoming the receptionist's were.realy friendly :) we booked this hotel for convenience as it was located near to derby train station,and it couldnt of been more convenient,as it was practically on the doorstep of the train station :) i thought by paying only £52 it might not be as nice as its advertised, but it was fabulous. I was realy impressed overall xx

Mix up with payment, wanted to pay bill by cash, on check in, but was told by receptionist that if I did I would have to pay £50 refundable deposit on my card, which I did, on checking my bank balance on the day of departure I found that a full payment of £112 had been debited, or "frozen" out of my account, when I explained how concerned I was about this, and as to why this had happened, I got no apology from her....as a fairly regular visitor, I am unsure if I want to return, unfortunately

Our room was excellent, very clean and comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was also excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. Myself and my partner will most certainly stay again.
