Good food and very friendly

Felt very cold in the night with no heating in the room overnight

Our second visit was every bit as good as the first.They welcomed us back like old friends Like being guests at a country house weekend

We had a very friendly welcome by the staff/owners and were out for dinner elsewhere but breakfast was very good and the rooms were comfortable,clean and warm.

My stay was quite short due to reason for visiting my sister in Ilsington who had a heart operation early, but was very nice,relaxing,food was good especially the Porridge at breakfast. I also met two very nice people staying at the hotel before moving too Chagford to live.

I cannot think of anything to complain about.

Relaxed luxury which was perfect for a short break. The peace and quite was very welcome. The staff were friendly and efficient and eager to please. The room was very comfortable and the extra things I had asked for were there waiting for us, perfect!

We could only spend one night there due to work commitments.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting with many interesting walks close by. The staff were very friendly with nothing too much trouble. The standard of cuisine is good,with a varied choice for breakfast. Free wifi was a plus. There was a good choice of beers, so often lacking in small hotels which are not pubs.

The level of housekeeping in the bedrooms could have been much better. Although the bathroom sanitary ware was cleaned to an acceptable standard there was dust on the carpets in the bedroom in places which were easily accessible for vacuuming. This is a problem to people with dust and skin allergies. In addition, although there was mention of milk sachets for making tea in the room with fresh milk available on request, on both days of our stay there were no sachets. The metal windows needed replacing as they were very old and did not shut properly. Double glazing would have been desirable but maybe not possible if the building is listed. Had we have been staying for longer these are issues we would have raised at the time, but this was only a flying visit.

Great surroundings, nice welcome, relaxed and comfortable public areas clean tidy room giant bed and deep bath with bags of hot water. Good dinning experience evening and filling breakfast in the morning. Hope to go back again soon.

We have stayed at Mill End several times over many years and have always found it a tranquil and peaceful place. The new owners have refurbished without losing the character of the building or the feeling of bygone times. Mill end is in a excellent position for walking on Dartmoor and we love visiting Chagford.

The hotel, staff, bedroom and breakfast were all excellent. It has beautiful gardens and I can highly recommend this hotel.

Mill End is a comfortable country hotel - an imposing building, a water wheel, excellent countryside. It is a small hotel, with no more than 15 rooms. I stayed in Taw, a really delightful bedroom and bathroom. I enjoyed good breakfasts at Mill End and, at last, I was served orange juice that tasted of the fresh fruit of the same name rather than tasting of Tetra Pack. Mill End is a straightforward 25 minute drive from Exeter.

I took dinner one evening during my stay. It was not a success. My main course of mackerel, saffron mash and samphire was ruined by a somewhat bitter yellow sauce which had been poured over everything on the plate. It swamped the delicate flavours of my meal. And someone in the kitchen did not know that you should remove samphire from its woody stalks . . . I will certainly stay again at this hotel, but I'll miss dinner.

Very friendly and well run hotel in quiet location excellent for walkers. Particularly suitable for those with dogs, which have their own special clean up room, and can sleep in your bedroom (for a small extra charge). Very good breakfast

Nothing really. A minor point indeed but bathroom could have done with a few more sink-side shelves for our washing kit etc

We loved the Mill End Hotel. It was comfortable, contemporary and incredibly friendly. The food was excellent and we were sorry we couldn't stay longer. The staff were very attentive and helpful and we loved the fact that they are dog friendly. Definitely stay here again.

Mill End is beautifully decorated, in a beautiful location, with beautiful gardens. Furniture is comfortable, service and food very good. We have stayed several times and will definitely go back. Dogs are very welcome and there are wonderful walks right outside the door.

The service, food and standard of the hotel were excellent. It's also dog friendly if you want to take them on your visit.

Although my egg was perfectly cooked the rest of the meal had spent too long under the grill.
