The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The quality of the food, both breakfast and dinner, was excellent. We chose to eat at the hotel for two nights of our stay.

Comfortable and quiet. Ideal location. The food (dinner and breakfast) were outstanding. Surprisingly so as the decor and surroundings suggested the food might be rather traditional and unexcitingSo much so, we very nearly decided to eat at the Plough! Glad we didnt. You should make more of the food in your publicity. Compliments to the Chef! Rooms rather tired. Dust under the radiator. Difficult to find a convenient plug for kettle and hairdrier. Shower over bath in awkward place so showering difficult. But good value for money. If they upgraded furniture/fittings/ you could easily justify charging £150 a night.

The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The location was excellent. This is our second time of staying at this hotel We ugraded our room to superior and apart from addiional space we did not feel that it was value for money. The bathroom had a very strong smell of drains especially when returning to the room after a period of time. We did ask the cleaning supervisor but were told that the hotel was full so there were no additional rooms. We had window open at all times which was not very practical as we were on ground floor. It did not totally spoil our stay but I wished I hd not paid for the 'superior' room as it did not live up to that tag.

It was in a lovely setting in the Cotswolds. Log fire in the bar and a very good breakfast! We clearly booked a classic double room to be given a twin room. However, the room was changed!

Breakfast. Cleanliness. Garden. Lady on reception (v helpful). Cleaning staff sat in the lounge gossiping and discussing their rotas as if the guests around them didn't exist. The conspicuous lack of management on site. No taxis! This is the Cotswolds not the Isle of Skye.

The location. We were given a classic room by mistake and it was basic. Toiletries minimal. Kettle socket position meant kettle was in front of tv screen. Linen and towels not crisp and clean-looking. Nowhere in the bathroom to hang bath towels. Everything needed updating. We stayed two nights and the dinner menu was the same both evenings. Menu was not varied enough.

The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. We did not stay for an evening meal but the food at breakfast and service was to a high standard. The building was quaint and had character as it was old, my partner loved the stone floor entrance. This hotel is clean and tidy and good value for money. As it was Easter there were complementary chocolate bunnys which was a nice touch. Good location for surrounding activity's, we would stay here again. In our room the shower did not adjust much in height for my tall boyfriend had seen better days, could do with some updating. But apart from that an excellent stay.

We like the hotel for it's ambience, location, good food, pleasant helpful staff. Lounge, dining room and bar are really welcoming and comfortable. This has been our third visit, and will go again. However, although the bedroom we had, had recently been redecorated, we do feel that it was "tired".

The restaurant experience was excellent. One good feature was the opportunity for one person to chose from the bar menu while the other chose from the wonderful al la carte resaurant menu. This is a generous feature of the dining experience. The ambience of the hotel was lovely with its sweeping lawns, stream and pleasant walks around the nearby streets. I was not happy about the bedding. Evidently the whole hotel has single beds that zip togther. Either ours was not zipped together or, the difference between the heights of the beds was too pronounced for it to be comfortable. The problem could probably be dealt with by laying a thick cover (not just the matress protector that was there) over the join.

“I loved everything about The Red Lion. The staff were amazingly friendly towards me and my dog who was made to feel as welcome as I was! Food was excellent and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Very cute cosy rooms and very nice bathrooms. I was booked in to stay for one evening but ended up staying two! Hoping to go back again in January. Felt like one of the locals, who were so so friendly.” Jo, Maidstone |
