Windermere is very small and pretty, but you're better off going to Bowness if you want all that *plus* the views. Windermere was quieter than Bowness though, which makes it a great place to stay over if you're travelling to more touristy places nearby in the daytime. There is an amazing gift shop in Windermere on the corner, and the Tapas restaurant looked great, even though we didn't get time to eat there. The park on Park Road was lovely for dogs and kids, and big enough to have a proper walk around.

An average selection of shops and bars/restaurants.
An average selection of shops and bars/restaurants. Bowness-on-Windermere is approx 1 mile away, this has a better choice of bars/shops/restaurants. The bus station in Windermere is located near the main road entrance. Bus trips are currently £2 per person each way (April 2024) and we decided to travel by bus to Keswick and enjoy the stunning scenery, and no expensive parking charges. Will definitely be going back to Windermere.

I have fallen in love of Windermere.
I have fallen in love of Windermere. I love hiking and nature and this place have everything you need to hike for days, do cycling and much more. Ideal for solo travelers or to visit with family and dogs. I will probably repeat the experience but in summer as some trails are better done with sun conditions /dry paths. There are lots of nice places and different restaurants in Bowness with fantastic food to enjoy. I would really recommend Windermere and closer villages like Grasmere / Ambleside for anyone wanting to spend some days surrounded by nature.

First of all do not book this property with breakfast included. You basically just pay too much for toast and butter! Nearby town has very nice cafes. Also make sure your room is not damped like our’s was! It was unbelievable!
They never cleaned our room and had to ask four times for fresh towels! The location is very nice but unfortunately the quality of the hotel has dropped significantly since last time we stayed in it! It was a huge disappointment.

Visiting the lake and taking trips around it on boats was fun. There are a lot of restaurants and bars to visit.
Apart from visiting the lake and eating out at restaurants there isn't that much to to do.

Windermere is a beautiful place very picturesque and plenty...
Windermere is a beautiful place very picturesque and plenty to enjoy on your stay I could highly recommend a walk into Bo'ness and having a look around the many shops on offer the church in particular is a peaceful place, then if your after a good pint the whole in the wall offers a high standard of pint 😀
The staff was friendly and professional. The front desk clerk answered all our questions and helped us to decide about what to see and do in Windermere. The breakfast was wonderful! The server was very nice, and the food was hot and delicious. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and so was the attached bathroom. The selection of teas, coffee, and cookies in the room was a nice touch that we enjoyed. We wished that we had more time to stay longer and would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.
Fantastic location being just off the high street and having a parking space with the room was perfect, no worrying about finding a parking space in a busy town. Host was lovely and we enjoyed the breakfast too. Room was a nice size which is important as I hate being cramped.
Lots of interesting places to visit, Bowness on Windermere, Coniston Water where you can sail on the Victorian gondola, William Wordsworths House at Grasmere and Hill Top Beatrix Potters house. Only wish our stay had been longer...
The setting and look of this hotel is beautiful. A short walk from the shores of Windermere. I was slightly concerned as I had heard some bad reviews but this was not my experience. I was allowed to check in early and had a lovely, comfortable, spacious room with a large balcony. The only problem was that the walls are quite thin and the family next door to me were very loud and had the TV on until about 1.30am. Staff were polite on arrival and throughout generally helpful. Vali was particularly good.
This apartment is very tastefully done up, and is also newly renovated with appliances. But the real luxury is the way the host has anticipated your every need and ensured you do not lack for anything, from minor details like salt and cooking oil and coffee pods in the kitchen to major things. His guide to Windermere and the lake District is a treasure and by itself is worth making the booking for. This is the intelligent person's place of stay in the lake district!
Station Lodge was ideally located in the center of Windermere close to shops, restaurants and amenities.
Bowness on Windermere is a 30 minute walk which we done Saturday evening.
Our room was clean and comfortable.
Coffee/Tea facilities were available.
We used the leisure facilities at choices health club which was an amazing perk to the hotel stay!!
Amazing stay we cannot to book again
Thanks Liam for your amazing customer service.
Charlie was an exceptional host helped us with our bags to the room and explained everything perfectly . The hotel was impeccably clean, modern and had great spa facilities . Our breakfast was delicious and loved that we could have it to our room. Location is perfectly situated between busy Windermere on the left and a quieter town to the right . Glass of bubbly on arrival and great cocktail menu .
Good, modern hotel well situated 10 mins from Windermere and 20 from Bowness. Check in and ongoing keyless access worked well. Parking space was a available. The apartment was a bit tight on space but manageable. As other reviews have mentioned, the fridge is powered by a jet engine so it had to be switched off overnight. Bit pricey but within the range for good hotels in the area.
Fantastic hotel with stunning views over lake Windermere, close to the busy town of Bowness. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice, dinner also very good. Spa was good, not too busy, didnt have any treatments but used the pool, steam room and sauna which were lovely. All in all a lovely hotel, highly recommended.
Overall the lodge was super comfortable and the view was amazing. The room spacious and both my son and I enjoyed the stay and the sunset and vista overlooking Lake windermere. The breakfast the next day was also great and the the place felt homely. Like the walks around the property
The property was situated in the perfect location with Windermere & Bowness only a short walk away. The property was clean, spacious, modern and have all you could need. It was very quiet with no disturbance. The beds were also very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely 2 night stay. We had our room upgraded which was the best in the hotel so that was a nice surprise when we arrived. Staff were lovely and helpful. Good location short walk to Windemere and Bowness on Windermere. Would stay here again if we were to go back.
Great location right between Windermere and Bowness, easy walking in either direction. Also close to bus service.
Our hosts were very friendly, accommodating and helpful.
The room was very comfortable and clean. We had a great breakfast while enjoying the garden.
It was a lovely home it had everything you needed close to the shopping the dogs and plenty room outside to play and our host left us bottle of wine and chocolate and biscuits you could travel easy to all the attractions around Windermere
Quiet location, near shops and restaurants. Excellent choice of food for breakfast. Good bus service near to the hotel. Bowness on Windermere is good place to visit for shops and walk around the lake.
The hotel was excellent, however I was disappointed to learn the spa was an extra £20 per person and not included in the price, this wasn’t clear when I booked the hotel / spa
