Our room was over looking the gardens and Lake Windermere, it also had a copper insulated, free standing bath.
The location was excellent and the view was spectacular. The food was very good and the staff was very helpful.
The room had a tub in the middle of the bathroom with one of those shower attachments. Not easy to use and difficult to keep water in the tub. May have been fine 100 years ago but recommend you upgrade. Dinner took a very long time to prepare. Total process exceeded 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Helpful, friendly, professional staff. Superb dining. Wonderful view of Wndermere from our room.
Incorrect postcode on bookings.com web site. Tricky entrance/exit to main road.
Wonderful views, extremely helpful staff, food excellent, relaxing and comfortable
We stayed in a cottage in the grounds. Whilst it provided a sense of seclusion it also meant that we had to walk up several flights of steps to get to the restaurant/main hotel. On the Sunday morning the steps were quite slippy and treacherous. The cottage was comfortable and had good facilities ( a jacuzzi bath and fully equipped kitchen plus a lovely big lounge to the front) but the decor was slightly tired. The staff were on the whole polite aside from the morning of our departure, at the waiter at breakfast was very curt and when we checked out the lady on reception did not ask us if we had enjoyed our stay.
The food was disappointing -particularly as it was one of the reasons we had selected the hotel. The evening dinner started off really well we were impressed by the au d'oeuvres and amuse bouche which were delightful, the starters were also delicious. The main courses priced separately at £27.00 each were however a real disppointment - my beef was layered with a coating of fat and overall the dish tasted of burnt balsamic vinegar. The desserts were OK but we both felt that the meal was not value for money at £47.50 a head. The breakfast service was curt bordering on surly and my vegetarian option consisted of a tomato, a mushroom, a poached egg and a hash brown - it did not look enticing nor was it particularly good. In general we felt disappointed and will not be returning to the Miller Howe any time soon.
Location and food.
No change in the menu.
+ Room + Outlook + Breakfast + Breakfast room outlook + Proximity to Windemere + Parking availability
+ Noise from ground floor utility room
The location is stunning nothing was to much trouble perfect
Having to leave
A la carte menu excellent value for money wines expensive in comparison . All staff were friendly helpful and attentive. Garden cottage rooms lovely but it is a pain when moving between hotel and cottage especially with the inclement rain if dressed for dinner.
Everything was fantastic
The location was fantastic just a short walk from the village yet felt much more remote when in the ground, spectacular views of the lake. The hotel was itself was fabulous cozy yet modern - Food was amazing! - So peaceful, the perfect getaway location. Cant wait to return
Ulswater room had fabulous view of the lake and mountains
Bathroom, water flow from the bath was very slow , no seperate shower, bath was very deep with no handles for getting out. All pipework was uncleaned brass.
Amazing views from our room and very comfortable, cosy hotel
Nothing enough to mention
Lovely setting. Friendly, attentive staff. Restaurant.
"cottage" room was very comfortable but you could hear every noise from people in adjoining room. Should not charge that sort of price without sorting proper sound insulation. Spoilt our first evening.
Excellent view of the lake
The price of the evening meal
It was just lovely- the room was spacious and v comfortable, the breakfast very English, beautifully served and presented, the food was delicious. Just aground a superb experience.
The room was good as was the location of the hotel
1.The restaurant menu was poor 2.The bedroom was good however the bathroom was showing its age 3.It took three attempts to get coffee at breakfast because the waitress just didn't seem to understand what we were asking for 4. One breakfast was good however the bacon on the second was a mixture of just cooked to overdone. A comment was made on the day!
A beautiful Hotel with the retained feel of a beautiful home.
Very relaxed but extremely professional and personal service
There was nothing we did not like
Olde English elegance, superb staff, very comfortable, views simply amazing.
The food although very good, was sometimes repeated , or very similar . We would have liked more choice in the evening as regards starters.
Food , The view , good service.
Would have liked a shower in the bathroom.
The hotel was lovely and set in a pleasant location. Lovely log fire, superb food.
The lounge chairs could have been a little more comfortable. Also we were not aware of the dinner bed breakfast, which would have saved us quite a considerable amount of money.
The food was quite excellent
