Kendal has lots to offer visitors and is an ideal place to stay, away from the crowds in the central Lakes. Lots of walking accessible by good public transport, avoids taking the car and trying to find somewhere to park. Plenty of shops and places to eat, especially Corner 124 where you can enjoy an excellent meal.

Although Kendal was not the most picturesque of the towns we visited in the Lake District (the competition is stiff), it still had a lot of charm and no shortage of good shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés. It made an excellent base for seeing the Lake District on public transport. We arrived by rail in late October and used Stagecoach buses for the duration of our stay. The buses were clean, comfortable and reliable, with charging points on the buses. The bus network was very easy to use, with the option to buy tickets and get bus times through the Stagecoach app.

River running through the town is so nice to walk along.
River running through the town is so nice to walk along. Church bells ring each quarter of an hour. Market on street and indoor one as part of shopping centre was interesting. It is near Windermere and we used it as a base to see a few of the lakes.
We had an amazing stay at Arthur’s Cottage - our host allowed us to check in early as we had a wedding to attend and they made this so much easier and stress free. During our stay we had a massive snow storm and got our car stuck in Windermere - our host checked in with us to check if we were okay and offered a late check out until we could get sorted. We would book again anytime if we need to be in Kendal again. Apartment was very clean and heating was on for us when we arrived. Perfect location. Great experience.
We liked the location, the comfortable quiet accomodations. The breakfast was exceptional. The hosts Wendy and Richard were friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. we had some really nice walks thanks to them.
Kendal is a lovely little town with an ancient history. The little windy streets and buildings were charming. It was so easy, as well, to get deeper into the lake district.
We would definitely stay here again.
The location and facilities were great, the decor is beautiful the bathroom was absolutely divine. Many a night during my weeks stay was spent in the slipper roll top bath. The welcome bottle of wine and biscuits was most appreciated after 7hours of travelling.
The 555 bus to Lancaster or Kendal is literally 1min walk.
There is also a very well stocked corner shop and you are 10min walk into town.
Central location of the 2 bed apartment in Kendal was ideal. Close to shops, bars and restaurants. Master bedroom was huge with a separate sitting room joined. Beds were very comfortable. Loved the open plan living dining area and the entire apartment is very tastefully decorated. Cooking facilities and fridge came in very handy.
The location is very suitable for driving and is just next to the main road leading to Kendal. The hotel is situated next to a farm shop and surrounded by green pastures. The staff are very friendly, and pets are welcome. The restaurant is amazing, and source local produce for the food and beverages.
Room and Breakfast were as expected. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. The location was perfect for our visit to Kendal and would recommend to family and friends. The facilities in the Hotel besides our accommodation and breakfast were not used on this occasion so are unable to comment.
Great location, beautiful house, very well maintained clean and tidy, great instruction book about the house and surrounding things to do in Kendal. Host was very communicative. Appreciated the kettle, fridge and utensils in the room. Had a cosy common area downstairs
A lovely comfortable hotel with very easy and convenient access to the town centre for shopping, eating etc. Generous buffet breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Free parking underneath the hotel itself.
Short walks to Kendal Castle and Serpentine Woods.
Clean, comfortable, it felt like being at home
Very close to train station, buses and Kendal centre
Beautiful area we love coming here
Host made it easy to acces the property and was contactable during our stay.
Central location in Kendal with plenty of options for dining nearby. Ground floor rooms behind the hotel. Friendly staff when we stopped in for a drink. Good full breakfast options.
Excellent location, had a luxurious feel & friendly hosts.
Great area for sitting & enjoying the great weather.
If your in the Kendal area, this is a THE place to stay 5 🌟
Location in the centre of Kendal was ideal. Large comfortable beds and an excellent welcome pack. The large lounge provided a really good meeting area for the four of us
Really helpful, friendly staff - both in reception and the bar area. The room was very clean, and I felt safe there. Parking across the road was great as well.
