Arrived by car at 19.50. The drive gate was closed; couldn't get in.
Pressing the bell repeatedly for 5 minutes produced no response. Decided
to drive away, but before doing so, pressed other bells with other
names. The gate opened. Greeted at the door by pleasant, if surprised and
barefooted, manageress who wanted to know how I got in!!! Strange. Wifi
didn't work, had to transfer to the breakfast room to obtain a
connection. Same thing the next morning. No toilet brush (broken by
previous guest and not replaced). Woken up both mornings at 5.15 A.M.
due to daylight (curtains semi-transparent + the blinds, even if turned
upwards, allowed sunlight through the side direct onto bed. The ability
to continue sleeping in any case not available due to the starting up of
nearby road traffic. The establishment's "guarantee of a good
nights sleep" simply a false guarantee. English bathroom - modern
but small, hardly space to put anything, scalding water until finding
out how the shower worked (one of hundreds of poor English shower
designs), very slippery floor, hardly space to get by the toilet and
into the shower (+ shower door opens outwards). &Quot;Push" sign,
being an English one, had become unstuck and was lying on the wash basin
shelf (presumably pending a renewed attempt to re-stick it), etc. Dogs
on-site (not dangerous, but they bark).
Bewertung for Europe 5,0. For England, 8.3
