The welcome from the staff was friendly and warm. The room was very comfortable and exactly what we needed. Food and drinks were excellent and well priced.

Bedrooms too hot at night. Opening a window made the room very noisy. Cold/continental breakfast had limited choice.

Access is fairly poor following construction of a large supermarket nearby. We did have trouble finding it

It was clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was good. It was in a very convenient position, with good parking, and was precisely what I needed for my purposes.

I stayed for 2 nights, and, on returing to my room the second evening, found that it had not been made up. I was rather surprised (!) - this has never, ever happened to me before - and I have travelled extensively. However, although I pointed this out at reception, it was late, and I didn't want to make a further fuss. I did tell the manager the following morning, and he apologised, but didn't seem inclined to offer any sort of financial reduction. Perhaps a refresher course in hotel management is called for here!

Shower was a bit finiky to find right temperature, but very minor point indeed.

WiFi connection was only £5, but I still don't like paying for it. Bathroom was rather old-fashioned.

Breakfast was fresh. Hot and as expected, this hotel was in a great location for our needs.

Firstly, as is pointed out for people like me who read reviews after arriving at the hotel, it's not accessible from the street it's actually on, the only access is via what actually is the back door.... Secondly, I booked a 'family room' it's located immediately opposite the reception desk where staff carried out conversations all night, do not expect peace and quiet... Thirdly, despite various listingson 'Booking.com' and elsewhere the room is not as advertised, there is no bath, I was so annoyed at this and wouldn't have booked had I known... Lastly all heating in the room was turned off, it was bloody freezing in there when we arrived... I wouldn't return!

Bathroom just a little 'tired' could do with a little attention

Service excellent. We were welcomed in a friendly manner making us feel like proper guests. Room was spacious, clean and had all facilities needed to male it a comfortable stay. Break was fresh and delicious with locally purchased produce including high quality bacon and sausages..yum, yum!

The staff are first rate. I had a problem back at home, which meant we had to leave early. The staff showed concern outside of what one would normally expect. The hotel itself is very, very comfortable, clean and well looked after.

Michael - who sometimes seemed to be running the hotel single-handedly. He checked us in, took our dinner order and made the breakfast. He was really friendly and helpful at all times !

The selection of beer in the bar is very poor. They also have one of the least interesting of Belgian bottled beers, Stella Artois. A bit more variety, please.

I stayed at Millgate House Hotel on my way home to Scotland after a business trip further south...I Found this hotel very comfortable and the staff made me fell very welcome on a dark foggy evening in January..My bedroom was much larger than most hotel rooms and really did enjoy my meal of fish,chips and peas..After a great nights sleep I was served with one of the best cooked breakfasts that i've had in a long time served to my table by a smiling and happy young lady..All in all I would highly reccommend the Millgate House Hotel.. Great Hotel!!

Friendly and helpful staff, good food, reasonably priced. Relaxed atmosphere, warm comfortable room and secure parking. Short walk to town, Excellent stay.
