Staff were helpful snd friendly. \the room was immacuately clean, comfortable and nicely decorated with a 4 poster bed. we took our dog who is very well behaved and this was acceptable. The breakfast was lovely. Well cooked and plenty of it. The dinning area was bright, clean and welcoming. Would recommend! The hotel location on the map looked like it was on the edge of the town almost in the countryside but it is like the city has come out and grown around the hotel.

I did not like the hotel at all. The picture on this site must have been taken a long time ago as bore no resemblance to how it is today. Our room was very small, the curtains were not long enough letting light through the bottom and the window frames were flaking paint and black through condensation. The 'en suite' was a sliding door and tiny with a toilet and a shower cubicle with a shower curtain - no bath. The bedstead was a brass effect and old - needs replacing. Breakfast was greasey and served in the conservatory where the view of the garden was stacked up garden furniture which was old and needed cleaning. The teapot was tea stained and well used. We checked out early as needed to return home. However we would not have stayed a second night as the hotel room was much too small and depressing. Considering the rate was slightly more than the Future Inn, it is not even value for money or a budget rate. I really don't know how they consider the room we were in as guest room. I would not recommend this hotel.

when i booked I asked for a room that had wheelchair access I was allocated a room upstairs there was no lift. the restaurant served preprared food that only required heating hardly a Country House Hotel Restaurant. so apart from the receptionist who appeared to do everything I was not impressed and only stayed one night so there was not much to like.

Friendly good location for access to Town Centre, Dartmoor, and lots of Devon attractions, Plenty of car parking and quiet location though on a main road the hotel is set back and did not hear traffic the rear garden is surrounded with mature trees. externally at the rear could do with some TLC.Did not try restaurant for dinner as visiting family and therefore ate at their place and visited a great Italian restaurant near the gate to the royal marine barracks, breakfast well organised fresh cooked and very nice. This is a very old establishment but very well run. Electric shower good controls but not much water. The restaurant area is clean but atmosphere could could be better as it gives the impression of a fast food outlet and does not do the Hotel justice.
