Score from 318 reviews Very good
Situated in the heart of the Thames Valley, only 9.5 km (6 miles) south of Oxford, the hotel, with its unusual and interesting architecture, prides itself on personal service.

Score from 91 reviews Superb
Reception staff very helpful and pleasant. Able to leave luggage at the hotel on the day we checked out as we wern't leaving until the evening. Good bar meals.
Bar prices high, although there is free tea and coffe available all day. Parking very limited by the garden rooms. Our room was in an ugly concrete building, but had a beautiful view over the garden. Stayed here many times but was first time in this building.
Lovely pool and health suite, very good chef, attentive staff
The garden wing looked ugly from the outside, but was fine inside. Some very inconsiderate noisy guests singing loudly at midnight in the room above, but that was not the hotel's fault!
Front of house staff were freindly, leisure facilities were better than average. Rooms were clean and with reasonably new fittings and furnishings. nice toiletries
Website fails to present a picture of Garden Wing rooms. When you get there you understand why. Looks shabby and feels completely at odds with the rest of the establishment. Rooms were very small, felt there was little room to move. Lampshade with busted bulb, picture on wall with inserts inside fallen off their glued fittings, shower head attachment kept falling downwards so had to stoop to get any water coverage. Really not the standard I was expecting, if I'd paid the £140 standard price I would have have been fuming, I paid £80. There are a lot of other places out there charging this amount and doing it a lot better. Couldn't be bothered to complain as only staying one night but won't be returning. £15 for breakfast? for those of us who don't wish to eat their own weight in food this seems beyond excessive. Please be aware, when booking it offers you rooms in Garden wing or Gable cottages. Whilst you have no idea what either of these are at time of booking the Garden wing is what I’ve described here. I cannot comment on cottages as didn’t see those.
Lovely setting. Really nice evening meal.
The hotel is well sited, lovely grounds. The staff were helpful and friendly.
The room was basic, very poor decor, dated. This hotel could do with a major refurb.
The Pool/Spa & fitness area was good, offering early opening & late closing.
The bar & restaurant area was very formal, and not ideal to relax & unwind.
Breakfast. The games area.
Poor reception staff who were quite rude. Overpriced
I liked that was semi secluded as was peaceful until the morning when all could hear was very noisy children very early on running up and down the corridor
The noise from the children was off putting
Comfort of the room
Everything. It is a nice hotel for a reasonable price. I will probably stay in future visits.
heated towel rail perilously close to toilet, watch out.
Attention of the staff with nothing to much trouble. At least one member of staff regularly 'appearing' to check everything was OK
The shower could do with attention and the safe, while in the room was not fixed/secured in the wardrobe
Accomodation and food were very good standard.
The price was good
Wifi that doesn't reach anywhere within the hotel. Noisy and very overloaded with corporate away events. The bar was dominated by the groups.
Free coffee machines dotted around.
The buildings were dated.
cleanliness ,quick check in and out, everything you need
rooms a bit distant from restaurant and bar
The leisure area The bedroom was comfy
The restaurant was fully booked. I would of expected to be able to dine in the hotel we were staying in. There should be an area allocated to guests only.
Breakfast and the location
No space to put any clothes except for one cupboard which was shared with the tea making facilities. Anything longer than a suit would be resting on the kettle etc. No double glazing. The radiator did not work in the bathroom. Generally the place looked tired.
Bed was very comfortable . Bathroom need a major upgrade, toilet seat was loose
Main course for dinner was very slow in arriving, some 35mins. Small bottle of water was £4.00
Liked the location and comfortable room and very nice bar.
Unable to book a meal so had to go to local pub and the steam room was awful the steam only came out for about 20/30 seconds and then went off and we had to wait ages for the next lot of steam and hardly raised a sweat.why has it changed so much from the last time we went and also sauna was not very hot either.
The location, the breakfast, the staff. All very nice and made the weekend very enjoyable.
Excellent venue, location, decor, cleanliness etc..great breakfast & bar
The layout of the room was terrible. We we're going to a family funeral in the morning and the stress of the room layout made getting ready 100x worse. A huge mirror facing the bed (not good to sleep facing) and with no dressing table or plug near it to use the hair dryer or do makeup. To use both the hairdryer & Iron you needed to unplug everything & no room to put anything down. Once the ironing board was up there was no room to do anything else as the only place it would fit was in the way of the mirror, wardrobe & desk. Nowhere to put your bags. The wardrobe opened into the desk. No separate chair to sit in.... Basically the room was far too small for the furniture, simple solution, smaller desk cum dressing table with mounted mirror (doubles up) with plugs fixed near it!!
Lovely scenic setting. Great swimming pool. Beautiful Christmas decorations. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Rooms a bit small. Rooms too far from the main facilities. We were not told that the rooms were not part of the Main Manor House. We booked this hotel because we wanted to stay in the lovely Manor House. Towel rail was rusty. Would have liked chopped fresh fruit for Breakfast. Very off-putting to find groups of people smoking outside the Main Entrance, on more than one occasion.
gym and pool
restaurant not in use xmas do
location ,facilities and cleanliness
limited parking due to confrenec attendees taking most of spaces, those that were available were on grass and muddy puddles
