The refurbished Steventon House offers fine comfort, a striking wine bar and an exquisite brasserie restaurant amid the Oxfordshire countryside. It has easy access to the M4, M40 and business parks.
Score from 66 reviews Very good
Situated in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, in picturesque Dorchester, The George Hotel is one of Britain’s oldest coaching inns. The inn offers hearty breakfasts and a traditional restaurant.
Score from 331 reviews Good
Set within an old corn mill with a working waterwheel, this traditional hotel enjoys a tranquil setting on an island between the historically significant Abbey Ruins and the banks of the Thames.
Score from 329 reviews Good

A lovely hotel with bags of character and plenty of facilities. Very nice rooms and staff very helpful even went back for second night!! Very recommended for others and location is ideal for Oxford. Great value for money shall definitely be back.
Nothing it was brilliant
Lovely main building with great design & especially liked the library
Our room was in the garden block which was next to the main building & although the room was nice, it was small, noisy & way too hot
Slow bar service, restaurant food and wine overpriced for the quality, which wasn't very good.
Despite putting do not disturb sign on door, both times we stayed, we were woken very early by housekeeping
The original building was quite pleasant. Tastefully decorated. Facilities were more than adequate, swimming pool etc.
The 'garden rooms' block is dated and ugly. Unfortunately, we were placed there. There were two weddings taking place and the bar was overcrowded and incredibly noisy. People smoking outside the main door and smoke traveling through open window. Just awful.
Very happy to get the top suite for my discounted online booking.com price, not sure I will be this lucky in the future!
Given that the room was their best suite, I was surprised that the rooms could have benefitted from a dusting.
Liked the bar, restaurant, food, gym, swimming pool - everything!!!!
Stayed in room 122-really tatty building exterior in the older accommodation block. Very disappointed. Window blind was in poor condition. Desk was scuffed and marked. No kettle to make tea or coffee.
Grounds Perfect location for us.
1. When we arrived - asked to pre authorise debit card with a 'little extra' - of £30!!! Expensive extras in this area. If card details have been taken, surely you have a record to chase any extras that may accrue! also a charge of £2.50 for credit card transactions - not a customer friendly approach. 2. Room shabby, poor planning of room and leisure facilities.
It was as good as some 5 star rated hotels I had experienced !
Only stayed one evening so everything I experienced was great .
The rooms and space.
could not connect to wifi
Building, lobby and room nice.
The two beds pushed together to make a double is very uncomfortable for a couple.
pleasant staff . nice rooms prices didn't reflect food/ beverage prices
prices for buffet breakfast steep, £5.10 for a pint of peroni say no more
Staff extremely helpful and polite. Wonderful breakfast. Great traditional decor in an old mansion.
Facilities, room and hotel was lovely Lovely meal
There was a wedding on so we had to keep walking past the wedding to get to our room, and late at night they were all out side drunk. Also didn't get a wink of sleep from very drunk and arguing neighbours !!!! The hotel should keep wedding guest apart from other guest. Spoilt our stay ,,,
Noise from wedding party. Will ask for quiet room next time
comfiest bed ever !
Location and Food
Leisure suite and public facilities, especially the Italianate garden
As a regular visitor Wi Fi in room intermittent, never had full connectivity and rarely lasted more than about 2 minutes before dropping out. Room decor is very dark and not very welcoming.
Pool, Jacuzzi, bed
No access to microwave on request. Agreed to give us 12 check out but this was not communicated to morning staff.
Very comfortable bed and good all-round facilities. Free tea and coffee a bonus. Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff.
Breakfast was excellent but pricey. Restaurant meals are fairly priced but the quality is not outstanding.
We were given an upgrade on arrival because they knew it was my birthday but as my husband is disabled they went to check the room was suitable first. It was a very spacious & comfortable room.
A couple of maintenance issues in the bathroom that could easily be rectified. I am sure they didn't know until we informed them. Food average, nothing to write home about but ok.
Free Wi-Fi. Excellent bar and very nice breakfast
Bar was a little expensive though.
Stuck in an outbuilding 200yds away from restaurant in a poorly lit room which needed decorating two minimum size single beds with children size duvet and bedspreads with insufficient overlap. No service by miserable barstaff. restaurant mediocre. the whole establishment looked tired.
