Staff were helpful and courteous given the problems stated below We were located in the Gable Cottage and on one of the coldest nights of the year, the boiler packed in and on the next morning there was no hot water and the radiator was off. We were offered an alternative room for the second night , but chose to check out

A first visit for us due to its closeness to my eldest son's home, having previously been forced to look at hotels outside Oxon, E.G.Swindon due to the high rates quoted. However , in this instance , the price was right and we had a very enjoyable short stay at a hotel obviously favoured by business for meetings and conferences. Nice friendly welcome from reception , excellent room, good breakfast ( did not have dinner). Will darken their door again if the price is right next time. A very small criticism .Our room was in a block at some distance from reception but we have stayed at other hotels with the same situation, so no big deal.

We stayed due to attending an event in the Wisteria Suite and were offered good rates. It was a great venue for the event. The room was smart and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious. The pool wasn't working when we stayed, which was part of the reason we chose to stay so we could make use of it!

It was exactly as the blog said, and it was totally adequate for my requirements for that trip- ( I would like to try it when things are a little less frenetic - its a lovely setting)

I like the location and the layout of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful - top marks to them! Good to have a spa room to unwind at the end of the day. Room was spacious and comfortable. The only complaint I would have is that the lighting is very poor both in the room used for the event and the bedroom. As a woman I had to use the bathroom to apply makeup and get dressed etc as lighting too poor by the dressing table. I was on a two day event and we were allocated 'homework' to be read at night for the following day. This was quite difficult in the room as lighting so bad. The room that was used for the event was also poorly lit, which makes for a very tiring day as you are battling gloom to write, see what was written on flipcharts etc. Staff did try to ease this with an extra lamp, but did not make very much difference.

Reception Staff and Concierge were very helpful. Rooms with extra bed / cot were a good size and very comfortable. Very disappointed that swimming pool was closed (for hygiene reasons), especially the children... Light in corridor broken, which made it very unsafe in the stairs. Repair took far too long. Food is very very average.

Nice, quiet location. Rooms were a good size and tea and coffee facilities were available. Pool was clean and in good repair No air con, rooms were very hot and one on ground floor so couldn't leave windows open at night. Swimming pool change area is much too small. Travelling with older children but still rooms were located very far apart in separate buildings. Menu is expensive - restaurant or bar meals but other reasonable places to eat in the area. Mcdonalds is 2 mins away if you don't want to spend £7.50 each for breakfast

Lovely setting and gardens, good facilities. Near to road network. Parking available. Rooms were clean and modern but compact. Comfortable beds. Bar and restaurant staff friendly and helpful. Double rooms small with little clothes hanging space. No air conditioning in rooms. No fridge/mini bar or nearby ice-making machine. Extra bed provided was very uncomfortable and in poor condition. Upon complaint, it was replaced with extra mattress, which was at least better. Still charged for provision of bed.

A very stunning setting for a wedding and the weather was stunning! The chap at reception when we checked in was extremely helpful and very on the ball as were the staff overseeing breakfast but the chap on the main bar was on another planet and kept getting the simplest of orders wrong and was slower than a snail at serving drinks. Was the only thing that wasn't slick at this excellent hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel - although we were placed in the building adjacent to the main hotel, our room was very nice. The staff that we met were friendly and always helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed looking out across the frosted grounds while we ate breakfast! It was exactly what we needed for the weekend.

Loved the price (£19) and the close proximity to Oxford. The excellent leisure and spa facilities were an excellent bonus! Great free car parking too. I had a massage (well, when in Rome...) at the White Cottage (attached to the spa) which was fantastic. I had a drink in the lovely bar too (a little pricey, but not more than what you'd expect for 'hotel prices'). Great shower. I didn't eat in the hotel at all as breakfast wasn't included, so can't comment on that. However, the complimentary ground coffee in the lobby was such a refreshing change from the instant rubbish that is usually only available in hotels. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. All in all, a fab stay.

Excellent stay the women on reception was very helpful easy check-in and out, free coffee/tea machines around the hotel was a nice touch. The spa was rather small only enough room in the changing room for really 2 people at a time also same in sauna and steam room it was never busy the whole time we was there,it would of been a problem if it was though. We stayed in a suite in the main house so as u expect everything done to a very high standard so can't coment on the standard rooms around the back of the hotel. Excellent restraunts in Didcot and Oxford both car journeys away (Didcot 5to10mins)(Oxford 15to20mins)Restraunt in hotel was lovely had better meals out Jamie olivers restraunt in Oxford was probaly the best for value/atmosphere and food.Stayed 4 nights had an excellent relaxing time.

The restaurant provided good quality meals in a pleasant environment. The room was clean but there was a lingering smell that suggested that the room was affected by damp.
