Set within an old corn mill with a working waterwheel, this traditional hotel enjoys a tranquil setting on an island between the historically significant Abbey Ruins and the banks of the Thames.

Good leisure facilities the grounds allow for a small safe walk. Hotel sits well in it's grounds and has a good balance of character and modern facilities. Free tea and coffee stations were excellent.
Room was slightly too hot. The restaurant menu was limited and not really good value I would eat in the bar next time
Very good breakfast, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Coffee stations, and the café with access to computers and printer.
We like everything. The staff was very kind. The location is perfect and quiet. Everything was really clean!
facilities, staff, clean, plenty of room, rooms were spacious, clean, shower worked well, very comfortable bed, good helpfull staff, plenty of variety to suit most tastes to eat at breakfast
the room was a bit dim, even with the blinds open and lights on. very disapointed with the breakfast, the rolls were very hard, the hot food was not hot but just barely warm, this at about 8am
The location, the surroundings were lovely. The swimming pool, steam room, sauna and whirlpool. The cooked breakfast.
The rooms themselves need updating.
The hotel location and setting was good. The on site gym although small was good. Breakfast was good, bed was excellent had a good nights sleep
Staff at breakfast were slow to seat you on occasions although generally very courteous
location ,friendly staff,great food
no toiletries in bathroom, guests not meant to use outside area after 11pm this not enforced so disturbed into the early hours with people smoking below our bedroom window.
Room was very dark. Condensation on window breakfast food only warm Loose tap. Room furniture date and gave of odour. Waiting staff immature and unfriendly. Over priced for what was on offer.
The hotel is beautiful, which is always a good first impression. The grounds are well tended and inviting for evening strolls. The food was delicious and the choice varied. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. The room was very nice, with a very comfortable bed. All in all, a very nice stay, just a shame it was on business and I couldn't make more of my time there.
The building and the grounds were really attractive.
Reception service, waitress service, bar service. We waited 30 minutes for our starter. Our main course was cold and our desert never came. Appalling service fro start to finish
Excellent location, comfort and good food.
The staff were brilliant. I brought my elderly parents to my nephew's wedding. The staff were so helpful to them. They couldn't do enough for them. My room was lovely. In fact, it was huge! The breakfasts were excellent. Lots of variety.
Unfortunately my room was above where the wedding reception and the music kept me awake each night till 1am. It would be nice to have a complete king size or double bed rather than two bedscpushed together. The TV reception was dreadful. I didn't mind because I watched films on my tablet. The rooms could do with air conditioning. It was unbelievably hot.
staff were very helpful and seemed pleased to have you staying
Facilities , quiet location
room far away from main house, somewhat run down extension block. Breakfast could have been better, only canned fruit available.
Coffee lounge areas, grounds and swimming pool
Water from the bathroom sink re-appeared out of the bath plughole, accompanied by a lot of muck. This eventually blocked the plughole. The problem was reported but their attempt to fix was a failure. Not helped by a dripping bath tap so the bath filled with water and muck. Cooked breakfast options not hot.
The room size The view from the room The facilities the Hotel offers
The Garden block. Rather noisy
I liked everything - the hotel and gardens are beautiful, full of character and very clean. The staff were helpful, and polite.
No public transport near by - one had to walk 15 minutes for a bus. Taxi was very expensive to the nearest town.
Swimming pool. Bedroom was good plus comfortable bed.
It was nice and peaceful and the tea and coffee in the rest rooms
The mess in the breakfast room by the windows
Room very dirty cobwebs
Initial impression is good.
Disappointment at staying in the concrete black at the back of the hotel. Don't agree with the credit card charge. Breakfast was cold
The food was very good and with the exception of one barman who seemed not to understand the concept of polite service, the staff were very pleasant. The pool was also nice, not too big, but clean and a nice environment to relax.
Not being asked how was your stay when booking out because then I would likely have told the manager direct as opposed to making it public. Ok, so we only managed to book a 'standard double' This was not in the main 'house' which likely being very plush would likely have got a better review. Instead the room '228' was in what is likely to be classed as the conference centre room annex. An ugly grey concrete add on. Now saying that, a room is more a place to sleep. The food was good, the staff mostly polite, I can forgive an ugly building. Not this time. The closest stairwell to our room would have put a council block to shame. Peeling paint, cracked picture glass, a thousand dead bugs, stained carpet. My g'f and I joked we would pay a builder friend to come and refurb it out of sympathy it was THAT bad. The heating was perma on and it was 28 degrees C...why ? The room, had the oldest and worst mattress I have EVER had the misfortune of sleeping on. Every small move made a sound like a volley of gunshots going off as old springs protested in agony. The room was sooo hot that I probably slept only 4 hours on both nights. The heating inside the room wasn't on but the room only became bearable at about 3am in temperature to allow sleep. I would have slept on the floor if there had been room, instead after what sleep I managed to have I had the worse back ache ever. I can't believe anyone has redecorated that back stairwell in years, or checked the mattresses in a similar time frame. Saying that, the bathroom was clean, shower good. tv worked. Sadly the good food and pleasant staff didn't make up for such below par accommodation.
Our bedroom window looked out onto the bin area which was a problem with flies on a warm day
Staff were excellent, really helpful in a crisis!
