Disco, on Friday night so little sleep
Awfull never got the room we where told when we booked on booked and paid for breakfast but no staff showed up to cook or serve breakfast we ordered the breakfast for 0730 and had to leave by 0800
Every thing else! One bathroom to 10 beds no shower. Fire door held open with extinguisher. Two many stairs. Need I say more! PS No sleep too noisey.
Great spot in town centre comfy beds friendly staff good breakfast
A bit noisy but no more than you expect in a town centre
very poor quality throughout I pulled out a set of drawers and behind was dust, particles of old food.
Smell of damp. Needs a refurb Old and tired
Nothing at all
The initial appearance of the hotel on arrival was so poor that I decided not to even enter the hotel & made alternative arrangements, the place looked in a severe need of a fresh coat of paint & did not present an inviting appearance at all
Staff were very good & really helpful
Very tired interior in need of a total refit, water leaking in rooms when it rains, very little hot water, bad smell in em suite due to drain problems
not a lot
loud music played through loud speaker over court when no one was out there. standard of accommodation not up to what was expected .
The sign on the door that said exit!
There was no welcoming greeting, staff seemed preoccupied and more interested in taking the money for your stay. We were taken to our room on the top floor. On closer inspection the room was found to be filthy, the dust behind any furniture items and under the bed suggested that a hoover had not been used in there for a very long time. There was a condom packet under the bed, a cigarette butt, hair brush, razor, hair bands were found behind the units. The shower unit had thick black mould in the corners and the shower door fell off. The shower was freezing cold even after running the water for 15 minutes. There were 2 bulbs not working and there were no lights working in the corridor. When we did eventually get to talk to a manager no one was interested in coming up to the room to be shown the issues we had. When talking to locals The Royal Oak does not have a very good reputation. We stayed one night and went and booked in to a lovely guest house at the other end of town. How does this place pass a health and safety inspection?
Scruffy staff having a fag by the entrance. Room in need of a bloody good clean and paint. No hot water for a shower. Came down for breakfast everywhere was closed. When someone did arrive I asked about breakfast argh we are not doing it today was the reply. A dump with staff that match avoid at all costs.
Friendly staff, lively atmosphere and low cost!
Not a lot to be honest. A redeeming factor was that we were offered to move to a bigger room in the guesthouse after the first one we were in was unacceptable. The staff weren't horrible but barely engaging and certainty not amazingly welcoming or friendly.
The first room we were given was dirty, the bed-side lamp seemed to be for decoration only, as when inspected (after I couldn't turn it on) there was no power point to plug it into, even near it. The worst part was the bathroom which was equally as dirty, and the shower door was broken off and propped against the side of the shower. The room we were moved to after we complained was acceptable but still not great. Finally, the security of the doors in this place was terrible. So much so that I didn't want to keep any valuables in the room when I was out.
Bed was comfy; bath good.
Although booking was made with a credit card, when we arrived we had to find cash as the 'card machine wasn't working'. The rooms (and corridors) were dirty; breakfast unavailable; and the 'Troh' wifi-service totally useless.
The property whilst clean was in desperate need of updating. No control for the television, lightbulbs didn't work and the entire apartment smelt of smoke, no plates, no shower either. If you stay on a weekend night it is extremely noisy from the pub and a club in the adjoining building until around 3am. The town was not great either as there was nowhere that we could eat with a nine year old.
The staff were pleasant.
The place is old, dirty and in need of general refurbishment or indeed knocked down and rebuilt! The rooms are disgraceful, the bedding stained, the carpets need cleaning, the walls and ceiling are stained and dirty. I wish I hadn't booked this place! but had no choice but to stay there, as we didn't arrive until 9pm at night and there were 4 of us with 2 dogs.
Just because something is cheap, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be clean and have a basic level of service. Made a mistake with our room booking. Only one small towel to share between us. Half the doors looked like they'd been previously kicked in. Stained floor, damp on walls, and a general atmosphere which made us feel uncomfortable.
Good room for the price friendly staff good location
We stayed top floor at rear if hotel. Had a party if drunken revellers every night will tolerate high spirits and people having fun but shouting n swearing till 2am not acceptable for a hotel such a shame will ruin repuutation of hotel
1) DOORS ARE BROKEN 2) SHOWER DOOR BROKEN 3) NO HOT WATER FOR SHOWER 4) NO REMOTE FOR TV 5) DUST EVERYWHERE 6) MOLD ON SHOWER/SOAP TRAY
Shower gel in bathroom for my use. Tea/coffee making facilities in room. As a single person, really good value for money and easy of booking a single room.
For what they charge, it is excellent value.
Cost only £45, beds clean.
