As soon as I arrived I was met by lovely and friendly staff. The room had a few nice personal touches. It was comfortable and cosy and fairly clean. The breakfast was great too and the owners were very accommodating. Just being really picky here, but the bathroom floor was a bit dusty in the corners of the room.

The couple who run the hotel (Eve and Ian) are so friendly. They will look after you throughout your stay, providing you with the little things that make you feel extremely welcome. The hotel is in a good location, only two minutes from the town and The Press Association - where I was on work experience. Both breakfast and dinner were lovely.

The location I booked out of the hotel after being shown my room . It was not en- suite ; the toilet was down a corridor and available to others .

Nice view of church from bedroom window and staff were quick to help when I couldn't get tv to work. Minster View Hotel really isn't a hotel, it's a pub with a few rooms. The room had an overpowering smell of air freshener, which once located and unplugged and window opened, left a rather unpleasant smell of smoke. The en-suite was pokey to say the least, no bath and you couldn't open the door fully as the toilet was in the way. We went out for dinner and returned to find all our stuff had been cleared out of the room as in the owners absence the staff thought the room was unoccupied. Just where they thought we had gone leaving all the kids toys and a laptop is beyond me. Anyway, after being given all our stuff back and unpacking, again, settled down for the night and tried to put the kids to bed. Sadly though there was a karaoke night on, with the speakers right below our room. Now there is only one thing worse than loud music when you are trying to get children to sleep and that's bad loud music. This went on until well after midnight, with the addition of loud shouting and laughing going on beneath the window from the smokers outside (perhaps this is where the unpleasant smoky smell is coming from, although we had shut the window when we came in earlier). So all in all, not a fun stay and definitely not for those with young kids, or those that think for £110 a night you expect something a bit nice. Oh and I didn't even mention the large naked man, wearing only a not large enough towel, that was wondering round the corridor in the afternoon when we left the room to pop to the shops!
