The minstrel theme has been thoroughly researched and carried through. Michelle can provide lots of historical detail which is very interesting. Good breakfast, and overall a very comfortable stay
The owners were so friendly and welcoming..... The breakfast was great.... Had a wonderful sleep...
The room was very tiny....
Themed accommodation - attention to detail, breakfast delicious, comfortable room.
Parking can be difficult but still highly recommended.
The atmosphere of this B&B is very authentic with great attention to detail. The food was great with a brilliant selection (choice of 8 different sausages for breakfast!!). The selction of toiletries was amazing as well as being hand made. The hosts very helpful and friendly.
The bed was so big and lovely but this left little floor space in the room. The bathroom a little cramped. But will definitely stay there again.
Friendly welcome helpful atmosphere the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble.comfortable room and excellent bed.it has been said that you should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord and. Dinner like a pauper.the breakfast menu beat many stared hotels.well done and thanks .
Slightly overwhelmed by the knight at breakfast.but well in keeping with the theme.
Everything about the Minstrels was excellent, from the hosts to the room to the breakfast and the good nights sleep. This B&B is highly recommended.
Everything was first class. 100% recommended.
The theme, the little touches, the hosts, the breakfast, the room, everything :-).
Couldn't fault it.
Breakfast, attention to detail (the most choices I have ever had for breakfast!). Very clean and comfortable. Nice private bathroom. Excellent value.
Location not ideal for the seafront.
The owners were very friendly, the room was clean and well looked after, there was plenty of tea and coffee provided, as well as a generous amount of shower gels, shampoos etc. The breakfast was wonderful, with many variations to choose from and the whole experience was very relaxing.
That we couldn't stay longer!!
Phil and Michelle were superb hosts. The room was small but very well equipped with every kind of toiletry in the en suite that you could wish for. The décor was in keeping with the name 'Minstrel's rest' and everywhere was immaculate. A superb breakfast which kept us going all day. A place deserving of high recommendation and we would not hesitate staying there again if we are ever in Hastings.
It is very difficult to think of what we didn't like. The location is about a 20 minute walk downhill to Hasting's town which isn't too bad. On the return journey, an inexpensive taxi ride is recommended.
Arrived after a long journey (A13 2 hr traffic jam) and was swiftly settled by Phill in a beautiful, restful, comfortable room. Bathroom was modern and I wanted to bring it home! Lovely products, soft fluffy towels, quiet and snug. Pre booked breakfast - delicious! I was well set up and rested for my long day's work.
excellent stay very clean room, no complaints at all
Excellent hosts , good choice of breakfast , quirky decor , lovely to stay somewhere different . Spa bath was something else , lovely way to relax after a busy day exploring ,
The room was spotlessly clean. Towels lovely and soft. Amenities very acceptable. Phil and Michelle extremely pleasant. Would definitely go there again, but would probably choose a bigger room next time!
The only downside was our hand basin in the en suite. It was tiny and very difficult to use. Just a small moan because on the whole we loved it.
From the beginning before we got there the owners agreed to bring us to the Wine tasting and collect us. Superb place, could not fault anything. breakfast was very very good
Phil and Michelle are a charming and imaginative couple who have turned their house into a medieval manor. You come in from a very ordinary Hastings street and immediately enter a medieval world. The highlight is the very large medieval banqueting hall, magnificent with its medieval treasures and decor. We had a small double bedroom, Blondel room, again kitted out in medieval decor and furnishings; immaculately clean and with a plentiful supply of different flavoured shampoos/shower gels, and ample tea and coffee, plus water, milk and fruit juice kept cool in a small fridge. Not a big room by any stretch of the imagination but adequate; likewise the bathroom, very small but functional and clean. Breakfast was a sumptuous affair taken in the banqueting hall, a wonderfully atmospheric place to eat. And a wide choice of hot and cold food on offer and first-rate cooking and quality. A wide range of jams to die for! Phil and Michelle make you very welcome and they are very informative about the Hastings area, its sights and sounds. Parking may be a bit of a problem on the drive but there is plenty free on the road. And whilst it is an half-hour walk downhill to the town centre, there are plenty of regular buses. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Phil and Michelle were excellent hosts. Accommodation was spotless and breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay again.
No off road parking, but was available on road nearby.
Nothing to dislike
Atmosphere and a different experience. Very nice couple nothing to much trouble
Nice welcome, nice facilities, breakfast to die for and super minstrel theme, rooms very clean, everything was brilliant
I was with my friend and we stayed 2 nights. The position was really good for us, as we were going to a wedding in a church near by. We were also in a good position for the railway station. Everything about Minstrel's Rest was excellent, and we both loved all the extra touches, such as the mini fridge and toiletries.
Very friendly and attentive. Lovely breakfast. Came back with a couple of the jams - tasty.
Bathroom not ensuite but no great problem.
Superb place to stay, the attention to detail was outstanding
Beautiful room, attention to detail was wonderful, very clean, made feel very welcome
Location for such a fab place was strange
