the light and fan in the WC did not work and the cottages were a bit cold when the boiler cut out during the night.

The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. I spend a lot of time away from home and it is lovely to be somewhere as comfortable as this.

To be picky the bathroom was very clean and tidy but not to the same standard as the bedroom.

I loved the feel and the surrounding of the manor hotel, it is a very relaxing atmosphere. A big unique selling point of the hotel for me was the gym. I also loved the homemade mushroom soup!!

The lovely room and the excellent breakfast. When we come again, we will definitely have dinner as well

I have stayed at the hotel I think 4 times in the last 2 years, and I ( and my family) have never ever found it anything but friendly, professionally run, comfortable and relaxing with good service and excellent cuisine. We have always had a wonderful stay - love the log fire!! Thanks.!!

I have stayed in Miskin Manor over the last fifteen years. It's a fantastic hotel. I will stay there again.

Unfortunately we took second place to a Wedding reception. The evening meal starter of scallops was excellent. All main courses were cold. Quote the plate is really hot, no its actually cold. The Guinness activator did not work, and stiring it didn't really work. Guinness in a can with a widget would have been an acceptable substitute.

Location is brilliant, handy for M4 yet quite secluded. Decor and furnishingsd are tasteful and very "country club". It is a relaxing environment. Didn't have time though for the Health Club which was a pity. Table D'Hote menu is good and priced sensibly.

The wine list is expensive and we wanted a special bottle of Mercurey 1 ere cru - it was vinegary. Need to get some good quality wines at sensible prices. The kitchen consistently fails to cook vegetables - al dente is one thing, raw is not acceptable. The shower in our first room presented some real challeges. Not often defeated by shower controls but these beat us. Draft bitter had been in the pipes too long. I guess not enough volume of sales and the pipes needed a good cleaning.

Restaurant was very poor. Slow service and good quality ingredients spoiled by poor standard of cooking, we actually thought it was the chefs night off and the kitchen porter had cooked our meal!! Breakfast the following morning didn't fair much better as it appeared that everything had been cooked in advance and kept luke warm on the buffet for a couple of hours.

The gym was well equipped

My room was next to the kitchen's extractor so woke me at 6.30 daily. They lost my reservation. First time staying there but no guidance on facilities provided on check in or even directions to get to my room - they just seemed more preoccupied with wanting to know if I wanted to book a table for the restaurant ( "oh it's not busy but the chef likes to know..." ). 5 times I was asked about booking as I tried to just see a menu.

Restful

The room I was in was very nice but there was a large air conditioning unit just outside of the window which was very noisy and the room did not have curtains (only nets) to reduce the noise level.

The hotel had a very warm and relaxing feeling. In a good way nothing was over the top or pretentious.

Grounds are lovely, very well kept. Breakfast was good although only two sides of the four slice toaster worked. A bit of a wait if you wanted toast!

Very tired decor especially in the bedrooms. Miskin Manor needs completely updating. Overpriced. Expected a more luxurious hotel and attentive staff at £175 for a double room with breakfast. Shower had no pressure. Waited an age at the bar to be served due to a wedding reception tasking place on the Saturday evening. Staff seemed in no hurry.

Great property set in lovely gardens. Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Cannot wait to got back.

Little smelly in the bars

The bulding is fabulous and I loved staying there. The staff were helpful and friendly. The grounds are lovely too. If you are into exercise, the hotel has a fantastic gym and the location means that you can have a good run on quiet lanes. This is an old country house so expect creaking floorboards but the room was massive! Tastefully decorated, high ceilings and great view from my room. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic. I don't really have any dislikes but some things could be improved, e.g. bathroom fittings were a bit tired and it was a really tiny TV for such a massive room. But don't let little things like that put you off! Personally, I can't wait to go back.

The building is gorgeous and suggestive.

The breakfast "included" is a fake. You can get some croissants and some toasted bread for free, all the rest - the classical continental breakfast - is en extra quoted at 13£, this is the first time I find such a owful tricky system to declare that the breackfast is included while it's not!

Setting, gardens, reception rooms.

Close to mainline railway and motorway: noisy. Restaurant not very good. Overcharged for small dog (£50).

Staff on reception were certainly "not customer ready" upon my arrival and I had a fair few seconds lapse before they acknowledged me and made me feel genuinely welcome bathroom requires slight refurbishment especially tiles near shower and bath [ room 18] breakfast - staff seemed tad sluggish and took my order and then failed to bring coffee. They only did so when I finally pointed out that other customers had been served who had arrived after myself breakfast was good once it arrived served before myself
