Beautiful building in and out
Upon arrival the heating was turned to maximum, so it was incredibly hot in the room. The room was outdated and doesn't fit the rest of the building. Curtains in the hallway were ripped. Because there was a conference, we couldn't have diner in the hotel. We had to walk a mile to get to the nearest pub. Ridiculous we can't avail ourselves of the facilities because there is a conference that uses half the space of the dining room. Bad breakfast, little (English breakfast) choice, not even cheese.
Room comfort, good breakfast. Convenient for where we needed to be. Interesting historic building
Could have done without the bread in its plastic wrappers! Very good cooked breakfast but some items not topped up even with half an hour of service to go
Good breakfast and bar meal.
Radiator wasn't working but was fixed as soon as I reported this. However it went off at night and then didn't come on again in the morning. There were blood stains down the front of the dressing table which was worrying.
Very clean and staff helpful
Bar cold. Bar meal (scampy) very poor and overpriced
clean hotel, lovely grounds and excellent breakfast.
The village of Great Missenden and beautiful surrounding area. The breakfasts were good and staff friendly.
The website bears no resemblance to the actual stay. Bedrooms are in a block just like a hall of residence, meant for a single person but with a small double bed and very weak just warm tiny shower. There is no restaurant just a bar with a small menu and very little seating.
Nice building and surroundings Rooms okay, complimentary hot drinks available.
Restaurant not open, bar meals available but little choice and not up to much for the price. Breakfast is buffet style but was left too long under heat lamps.
Great location and setting.
No Wifi in the room and overall poor access / connection - we never managed to connect even in the communal areas. Rooms a bit on the small side. Breakfast very average, with limited choice and unpleasant coffee. Water feature outside the room was noisy and irritating. Although my room was warm others in our party said their room was cold. Overall just about ok for an overnight stay.
The grounds and the grand reception area.
The room! It is nothing like the rooms shown on the booking.com website! I thought we would have a nice room but we were given a room in the other building with a bed pushed up against the wall! I am not 9 years old! Also, the room was in dire need of updating! It actually looks like a room in an old people's home! We could have got a modern travelodge room in one for less money! Deceived!!!
I was attending a training course. The facilities were excellent. Meals were lovely. Rooms were compact but had everything you needed. Bed was really comfortable. Surroundings were gorgeous. Would be lovely to stay in the summer
Bar meals were poor. Two people ordered starter and main. They were both delivered at the same time. Staff said it was because they were ordered as a side! I was given a sheet with wifi code but could not make it work.
The location was excellent for us, ease of booking in, access good, plenty parking, room comfortable, pleasant grounds
Wanted to eat on our return, service slow, coffee never came although ordered twice, think the were more interested in large party of guests
Location is Great for M25 Pretty location Building is externally appealing Nice Breakfast
Room was Tiny Floor wasn't properly cleaned Shower head needed descaling. No room for my baby's Travel cot. Tea tray dirty. Inside of cupboards sticky. Early Check out. First room we were shown was smaller with a mouldy shower. Double bed pushed against the wall due to lack of space. Most of the rooms are tiny which is fine for a single business man but not a couple with a baby. Hotel has little of the historical appeal I expected as it was gutted by fire and little but the exterior remains un altered. If you aren't up and out of your room at 9am you soon will be when the vacumming and daily noise take effect.
Grounds & the main area
Bedrooms very outdated in particular the bathroom - Shower was too small
Visting family, location ideal, good value for money and beautiful surroundings. Comfy bed
Not the best breakfast and bathrooms could do with an upgrade, but no major gribes
Location - it is a walking distance from train station. Location - beautiful and historical setting, surrounded by 10 acres of Chiltern countryside. Friendy staff.
The bathroom was bit outdated - the shower needs new liners, corners looked scruffy. A flickering light in a room. The breakfast was not memorable - e.g. the sausages!
The area is nice
shower is very bad and bad. water pressure was poor.
The bar was used both nights for office Christmas parties and was very loud. All the doors to the eating area were left open so the bar was freezing
We chose this hotel because of it's history expecting a lovely quiet evening relaxing in hotel lounge Hotel was taken over by a wedding, leaving nowhere at all for paying guests to sit and relax or even walk round as even to get to or from our room we had to walk through the Wedding receptions disco we had no choice than to stay in our room which was very small this wouldn't have mattered if we had only had to sleep in it what was meant to be an enjoyable planned time with my granddaughter what should have been a lovely memorable time together was turned into a boring night sat in a cramped hotel room
Comfy bed, small room but, all you need as a single traveler. Staff were friendly and had a nice small bar even though the food was limited selection and hence I didn't try, you are walking distance to a couple of restaurants though, I tried the New Akash which was lovely and a 5 minute walk away, did notice a French restaurant too along with a couple of pubs serving food. Breakfast was ok. I'd definitely stay again.
All was clean except for the bathroom, this could have been better, could have been an off day as I only stayed for a night.
everything except cold damp bed
cold bedroom allowing moisture in air to condense on bedlinen
Good range of facilities in the room - tea/coffee, good sized FST TV, ironing board, good sized en-suite. Tastefully decorated. Bar facilities were fine as was the breakfasting room. Overall a pleasant location whether on business or as means to explore local area.
Good location,convenient for Heathrow.
Rooms a bit small, but well appointed.small shower enclosure
We liked the location, but we felt we were in halls of residence as the room was very basic
As above, the room was very small and basic
