We paid more for a deluxe room. No bath robes as described, long hairs in the bath and we asked for a double bed but had two single beds pushed together that kept moving apart. We stayed here before in the same room type and had a much better room last time. Has put us off staying again I think.

It has easy access from the A14,the upstairs bar area was comfortable to sit and eat whilst being able to watch sky sports ,the pool area is verysafe and child friendly as it has a dedicated childs pool .Also the bus service in and out of cambridde is every 20 mins which saves you a fortuine on parking Poor customer service from the duty manager.....not enough bar staff on at busy times.

The facilities on offer were fantastic. The facilities on offer were fantastic and worthy of a 4* rating however the quality of reception staff and rooms I would say was just about a 2*. We paid for a club room sold to us as added features such as an extended tea and coffee service, luxury bathroom additions and bathrobes. The extended tea and coffee service was a packet of pringles, water and a kitkat- the still water was not replaced by the maids when they did the rooms the following day- an essential given that it was so hot, no air con and the windows only slightly opened. We did not have bathrobes and when we went to ask for them on the first night, the receptionist shrugged and said she could not do anything about it tonight bit would have some sent up tomorrow- we never received the robes. We were not informed that we had to book at the restaurant and were made to feel like a bit of a pain when we turned up at just gone 8pm on the Saturday night. When we checked out I expressed all my concerns to the senior receptionist who said that she would note everything down. Although she was very well spoken she clearly had no interest in the fact that we had paid an additional amount and did not receive the full service. I will be writing to claim the additional money back due to the rudeness of the reception staff. Had they had taken what we had said on board, followed up the complaint, taken the money off or simply offered a complimentary drink by way of an apology then we would have been happy. This was a huge let down and made the whole experience negative.

Location reasonably good. The walls appeared to be paper thin in room 166. The occupants of the adjoining room (168) were clearly drunk or just plain rowdy - woke us up by trying to unlock the adjoining room to our door between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on the morning of 18th July, 2011, then proceeding to bang loudly on adjoining door. Clearly, it is unreasonable to expect someone to be quiet as mouse but the unnecessary behaviour was very selfish and inconsiderate which suggests that we were in a hotel for thugs and of poor standard. The loud voices, noises and banging continued for some time without any apology or concern. Breakfast was disappointing as we had finished our food by the time coffee and tea was delivered - it must have taken 10+ minutes. Felt breakfast selection could have been improved with fresher fruit, better quality cereals and freshly cooked eggs, i.e. fried to order. Such a disappointing stay after a previous enjoyable visit in the past. Most disappointing as this was our 30 year Pearl anniversary. Sorry, cannot recommend your hotel. Should have been wiser in hindsight to book a more luxurious room or another hotel. Regrettably, I think the golfers and thugs should be segregated unless they can abide by a behaviour policy. Would appreciate your comments and response by e-mail. May consider staying at a different Menzies hotel, but would need to give a considerable amount of thought to this.

This hotel has a really relaxed feel and the food in the resturant was lovely. We ordered off the menu in the evening so didnt try the Buffet style dinner and our meal was cooked to perfection. The hotel facilities were great however I would say that the size of our room & bathroom was a little disappointing. I would concider paying a little extra for a larger room next time.

Comfortable room, good dinner menu, nice pool, convenient to Cambridge especially with bus service just outside the hotel, reasonable price (the 2 nights, breakfast and one dinner deal was extremely good value).

I was dissappointed with the bathroom as it was not as clean as I expect with hairs in the bath. Also the pool, with lose tiles warning, appeared very 'tired'

Excellent breakfast, friendly waitstaff, spacious bedroom. The Bathroom in Room 127 could do with updating, for example: the hair dryer was ancient and kept cutting out and the bath had chips out of it.

Restaurant for evening meal was very good, well presented, well cooked food. Our room was good although the air conditioning unit did gurgle at times during the night. The room we had booked was much too hot even though the radiator was off there were hot pipes running through the room. If we opened th e window there was a very loud banging noise from a pump outside. We complained and were upgraded to an executive room which was much better. Breakfast was rather bland. Drinks in the bar are very expensive.

I enjoyed my stay at the menzies cambridge hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpfull and the hotel was well presented and welcoming. The room was lovely. My room was very nice I was pleased with that the only downfall was that the bath tub was not cleaned properly so my partner had to clean the tub before we used it, which is not what you go away for but this was dealt with greatly. Another downfall is that it is very far to the centre of cambridge, as my partner and I were eating in cambridge city centre as the hotel resturant was closed as it was new years eve it cost 15 pounds per taxi to get the the resturant in the centre of cambs, when we had to use 3 taxi's this became expensive. But overall the hotel is delightful.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the Spa and the Adnams ale. We were visiting a family member in Addenbrookes hospital and found the location of hotel excellent for visiting, being a very easy and short car journey to the hospital. Bath needed to be rinsed before use, room otherwise very clean.

Staff willing to upgrade me to a better room when I complained about the low quality of my room. Staff friendliness For a 4 star hotel, leaves a lot to be desired. My first room was more like a two star hotel, Then I asked for an upgrade, just could not stay in the depressing room. Breakfast is hardly enthusiastic. Phone in my room as very dirty, dont think it was ever cleaned.

“The Kingsize bedroom with extra lage size bed and very nice view of river were a real plus(ses) for my wife and I on this weekend break in Cambridge. The friendliness of staff when we checked in and in the restaurant/bar made us feel very welcome also. Being able to have breakfast up to 11am on Sunday was a real treat as well. Loved our stay, would definitely recommend it to others. Thx for making our stay so pleasant.” Edward, London |

“We were very impressed with the University Arms. It was centrally located so ideal for shopping and for eating and drinking. We booked early and got a good deal. The parking below the hotel was ideal as we had a lot of gear with our baby. We would love to come back and make the most of the bars in the hotel.” Robert, Stowlangtoft |
