Ok on main road but not walkable to town centre
Friendly helpful staff. Good food. Good spa facilities. Good location. Good size rooms.
Restaurant menu a bit limited. Outside decoration a bit tired.
Very helpful and friendly receptionist, absolutely superb breakfast, beautiful gardens. We didn't use the spa facilities, but it was nice to have that option. Dining room gave lovely views of the garden. Our room #7 was clean with good facilities, and lovely curtains! Handy for the main road too.
Although the bathroom wasn't overlooked, there was no frosting on the window which caused us to be a bit self conscious when using the shower. Bathroom was clean with a good shower, but could benefit from some updating. No view from our window. Also worth noting free wifi only in public areas, you still have to pay for it in your room.
Room was above the function room where a wedding evening disco was taking place. We did get another room but would have thought wedding party should have those rooms above the function room.
Staff very accommodating to get us in rooms before 3 pm as we wanted to get ready for races in chester .
No air con in room .
Spa,pool, gym. Bedroom was great. Nice and comfortable.
Bar food & drink prices
Double room was a very good size and the hotel were most accommodating when I was travelling with my 2 year old, they accepted him staying in the bed with us at no extra charge and he also got breakfast included. Very good location to local shops and zoo etc Bar area and garden were very nice too.
For a 4 star hotel the decor was very dated, don't get me wrong it was ok but just needed updating but did not spoil our stay.
The staff was so nice to us. We thought they were very kind
Staff were friendly and local taxi drivers were great. Chester is fab place to visit.
This hotel would have been great when new but cracked mirrors covered in duct tape, a lack of power sockets, no Ac, a heated towel rail that was actually a pipe poking through the wall, dirty plates, And they ran out of breakfast on the Monday morning. Cooked breakfast made using cheap products - very disappointing. Even had to wrestle with room door Every time we left the room. This hotel needs a facelift badly.
Very nice hotel overall and the room 005 was excellant, especially the four poster bed. slept like a log. i want one of the mattress's! clean but oldy worldy. Breakfast excellant, wide choice. Nice employees, at reception desk and in breakfast hall. great leisure facilities. overall a excellant hotel. enjoyed stay and would go back.
In room, cups to be bigger please, more milk maybe. Windows outside room, 005, in need of some work? a bit 'tatty'. railings overlooking garden could do with cleaning and painting. cleaning of same roof. (plastic bottle on roof, general sweep/maintenance of roof area). From garden, wooden facias rubbed down and painted. Garden slabs/path cleaned, weed killer between them. a general bit of maintenance all round, to really finish the hotel off.
Very good stay. Great service and friendly staff.the Spa and especially the Gym are excellent. Dinner menu vyfg
Nice bar and pleasant bar staff. Free wifi which always scores highly with me.
Starting to look very dated and threadbare in the hallways and rooms. No shower gel or other toiletries in the rooms, only hand wash, so make sure you take everything you need
I liked the service. It was very friendly and classy at the same time. The food was gorgeous. Definitely value for money. The scenery is magnificent. The music they played is very relaxing and pleasant. The restaurant, and all other facilities are definitely value for money. I would definitely go back and would recommend it highly.
Nothing I can single out.
Pianist on Saturday evening - excellent. Nice garden. Seating area in bar and lounge. Car parking.
Very worn . Bedroom furniture and decor very dated and in poor condition. Bedroom and bathroom were dirty with layer of dust on skirtings and ledges. Not surprisingly, at checkout, the receptionist didn't ask us if everything had been OK. Not worth 4 stars!!
Ceiling In bedroom leaking -heavy thunderstorm but noted previous drainage holes. Room should probably not be sold in this condition until satisfactorily repaired. No offer of discount.
not good value for money breakfast kept warm on hot plates and not cooked fresh
2 receptionists made a good effort to make us feel welcome and tried to stay loyal to the hotel
The room was dirty. Black marks on wall, peeling paint, a nasty something on the television screen. Ensuite bathroom door didn't close. Evening meal wasn't cooked to order and once I complained I was told it should be like that! Breakfast was awful! Tinned oranges that tasted of tin. Coffee and tea cold and microwaved scrambled egg. Manager took off evening meal for the bad service but our stay was ruined. We stayed here because it was booked online and near the hospital where we were visiting my brother. The nurse we asked for directions said she didn't think it was a good hotel but by then we'd already booked. The spa followed the pattern of poor cleanliness. This hotel smelled and hosted like an old peoples residential home.
We stayed after a wedding at the nearby golf club. Everything was excellent- staff, food and rooms. We could not find fault at all. The beds were extremely comfortable and for someone who only manages 4-5 hours sleep each night, I had seven and a half! Result
Room options for families and very helpful front of house staff.
Breakfast vegetarian option was very poor and certainly not worth the price. Not the best options for children. Food generally has been poor on my last few visits both breakfast and off the bar menu. Restricted swimming times for children.
The first floor of the hotel was unquestionable however the room '09' was a little dated. The staff were more than helpful especially at the reception.
The steam room wasn't working.
Staff very polite/professional good facilities, well kept gardens. Good breakfast!
room 44 was dated
really over priced and in desperate need of a refurb
when the staff found out it was a birthday celebration they left a card +cake in the room which was a nice touch
Part of the pool was closed
Value for money
Room very hot on first night
