Location was really nice with terrace down to river . Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really good with a great choice . Room was adequate and good tea and coffee facilities.
The only downside was very smeary glass in the bathroom and a hair on the toilet., which unfortunately got us checking the cleanliness elsewhere. There was no bath mat supplied which perhaps isn't that important but would have been a nice touch.
Basic room Basic facilities Tired decor
The location as well as the stunning views just outside it's front and back doors. The comfortable room and very helpful staff made our time away from home a great time!
The hotel was very well located Very central We managed to park in the car park around the corner Would have greatly benefitted from a resident's car park The staff were very welcoming and always very helpful The daily breakfast was excellent We dined in the restaurant a few nights and the food was splendid
Stayed here before. Check out now later than previously use to be, much better. Room good size, comfortable bed, good shower.
Despite noise from bar this subsided by closing, so was fine. Breakfast in the morning was fine, not enough milk for cereals, and cooked breakfast a little overcooked.
Could hear TV from adjoining room which made sleep impossible. TV was obviously fixed to shared wall behind the headboard in our room and combined with paper thin walls, the result will always be the same.
location and staff
noisy at night
Friendly staff. Lovely airy room. Great breakfast.

The staff were friendly and obliging
No car park
Friendly staff, good menu for breakfast and served quickly.
Hotel interior needs a lick of paint and hot water tap in bedroom didn't always work !
The location and the view from the window. Breakfast was big in quantity and good in quality...
Shower was a big problem. The room was not cleaned thoroughly,as we found old food box under the bed when we were searching for our children's toys.
the reception is inside a pub and I had to wait about 5-10 mins to check in because the guy was serving drinks to pub customers. the room was fairly clean but there was a smell like someone smoked before we came in
The helpfulness of the staff on the telephone as we were arriving very late and leaving early the following morning.
Cooked breakfast and room
Stairs and the fact that your not warned about them and that the stair lift has been broken for around five years according to a member of staff. My mum is 85 and the stirs were too much
location is good
had no hot water the first night so went to bed with out a shower Booking.com never send our reservation to the Hotel or it never got confirmed so when we turned up they did not know about us but luckily had space for two nights
Great staff Room with a great harbour view (Rm 6) Perfect location for the town/harbour-side Hearty breakfast included
Slightly shabby and in need of some tlc in places eg picture falling off wall in bedroom and curtains off a few of its hooks in bathroom, dated yet cosy, but for the price inc breakfast and what a view, we weren't bothered!
Impressed mostly by the Staff, friendly and polite.
The courteous and efficient staff. The food was excellent - both evening meal and breakfast.
The bathroom was dirty - stains evident from previous occupants. Shower had no pressure and was either an ice cold or a boiling hot trickle. The room itself was shoddy and unwelcoming and the promised hair dryer and iron and board were missing. Could only stomach one night although we had booked two. An offer of a refund would have been welcomed but was not forthcoming.
Food and drinks choice
Shower not working, water temperature and pressure
Food was lovely. Breakfast was superb. Location is great - right by the harbour.
Room 4 VERY noisy. Next to the extractor fans. The Monachty fans do get turned off about 10.30 but the fan for the restaurant next door was on all night. Because it was a hot night we had to have the windows open which meant that it was extremely noisy. The impromptu party on the roof terrace next door also meant that we had no sleep. My husband eventually had to shout at them and they did go inside, but still, this is not on when you're on holiday. The Monachty need to do something about the noise situation in this room. Other than that, it was a lovely stay, just a shame about this particular room.
Overlooking the harbour in the terrace was nice as was the breakfast and the hospitality.
The bed was very uncomfortable and needs replacing urgently.
Position of the hotel
Having to wait 55 minutes for our breakfast because the chef had walked out. Taking back a flat drink of lager and being asked to pay for a replacement as Brains do not do bar refunds! Ice cold shower in the morning, other guests were also complaining about the showers.
Staff food location excellent
