good food, being well presented, and very good value for money. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel was basic but adequate, although could do with a bit of a facelift and external redecoration. Bedroom ensuite was not very clean

Location excellent. Bar area and dining areas very good. Staff very friendly and generally efficient. Only meal taken was breakfast which very good. Quite attractive bar and restaurant area. Place has potential. Good nearby free parking. The accomodation is rather poor at least our room although clean had nil view. Flat roof, pidgions and ventilation shaft. Room 2. If staying there again would insist on better room. Ventilation very noisy. However the manager was new to hotel and admitted rather run down and wanted to bring up to standard.

New management at last! The new people are friendly and professional and the breakfast is great. Lots of noisy pigeons outside bedroom window adjoining Fish and chip restaurant next door.

Good value lunch. New managers trying hard. External appearance especially entrance is very off-putting. Hotel needs a complete refurbishment. Plumbing problems resulted in lack of water to the shower. The potential for this hotel because of it's location is huge but it needs investment now.

Pleasant location and town centre pub food/drink was good quality and value and staff very kind and friendly. Hotel is also a pub and pretty well run down with no modernisation for what appeared to be some decades. Noisy pigeons in the early morning and often cold water shower with intermittent hot water. Plumbing in serious need of upgrading as do the rooms.

The landlady and landlord were lovely, extremely welcoming and friendly and obviously working very hard. They had taken over The Monachty very recently and I feel that with some money and time they will make it a really lovely place to stay. The room was in need of some attention. The walls need new paint and the window in the one room was very draughty and wedged with tissue! The throws on the bed were scagged and scruffy. The toilet hadn't been cleaned properly and the shower gel dispenser was empty. The shower was very temperamental and stopped mid shower. The restaurant looked in need of a revamp with dirty walls and I had to settle for a third chioce off the menu because everything else wasn't available.

The staff were lovely very friendly and when I asked for more pillows as we only had 1 each they were delivered very quickly. To be fair the hosts had only been there a few days and were new so hopefully the rooms will get a make over when they have settled in . The room was very dated and very small the bed was comfy though The bathroom really needs a good make over and shower needs replacing all was looking very tired and in need of a makeover.

Room was good size with views over the harbour. Beware when going to pubs where there is very little trade in the winter, drink bottled beer as what is on draught has most probably been there a long time and tastes foul.

Staff poor and unhelpful. Food extremely poor. Emailed request for early breakfast - no repsonse. Requested early breakfast on arrival , had to telephone member of staff in morning to remind them. Received 2 slices of burnt toast for breakfast.

It's location just off the high street and overlooking the estuary/harbour steep stairs to get upstairs made it difficult for my husband who is disabled but can walk a short distance with a stick

Close to harbour. Brains beer Smelly room (bathroom mouldy), smelly stairs/corridor (stale, sweaty smell). I was ill after eating a mixed grill in the restaurant- didn't complain at the time (British!) but the lamb and steak both tasted 'odd/off''

Location very good, free parking near. Basic room but very clean and comfy bed, would have liked a room with view but out all day anyway and only stayed 2 nights.Good full English breakfast and the evening meals good value. All in all good value for money. Could nitpick, but nothing to really complain about.
