The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The service at breakfast was excellent and the food was great The pillows on the bed were hard and uncomfortable. We would have liked a duvet rather than blankets.

Staff helpful with problem with room. Hotel was warm. Hotel was shabby. The stool in the bedroom was stained which I suppose could be deemed as an improvement on the first room which did not have a stool at all. The dressing table needed a polish to get rid of stains left by previous occupants and there was no quilt only a sheet and a blanket. Our bath had been patched up on various places and trying to have a shower was a joke since the oddly placed shower curtain kept wrapping itself around us. Dread to think why a piece of carpet had been stuck over the top of the dressing table. Need I go on? Im sure you get my general feeling.

Great location, great staff, lovely room with seaview and nice food. Hotel could do with refurbishing but it was clean and comfortable so the decor didn't bother us really.

Great location for the Spa Theartre, sea views from most of the rooms. Traditional, welcoming friendly hotel. Staff all very pleasant and friendly. Old style lift a bit scary, but no problems with it.

This is our second visit to the Monach. Probably one of the most friendly I have ever stayed in. The staff are lovely. A real Yorkshire welcome! If you want designer decorations and fancy toiletries this is not the place for you but if you want a nice quite friendly Yorkshire get away this is the place for you. We had a lovely sea view (5th floor) but guess due to recent weather windows were filthy. Bathroom was clean but needs bringing into this century and a draft from windows in bedroom to, which in warm weather would be fine but currently...

Really dsiappointed with hotel. For £40 per person out of season it was very dated. There was no entertainment even though when I booked I was told there was on a friday and saturday night. I could have stayed in a luxury flat nearby if i'd have known this.they also said there would be parking available but there was only 6 spacees for such a big place. Wouldn't recommend monarch hotel to anyone
