The staff were friendly, polite and helpful at all times. There was a cosy feel to the hotel, the buildings attractively arranged around a courtyard. Excellent hotel for visiting York.

The facilities in the room are excellent, the restaurant where we had breakfast was faultless and the bar is more than adequate. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It was our second visit and stay at the Monkbar and I would not hesitate to stay in the future and would definately recommend it to friends and family. The bathroom in our room needs a little attention, the sealant around the bath needs replacing and the floor was beginning to lift slightly.

The location was brilliant for shopping in York. I was disappointed with the room as it was very basic but adequate. Staff and the service was very good.

First impressions of the room (23) were not very good but it grew on us, the corner bath was far to big for the bathroom but the main complaint was that the curtains on both windows were hanging off at the end, I do not expect this in a hotel costing over £100 per night, the breakfast was excellent

Location was the main reason for choosing this hotel. Easy reach of the city, park your car and forget about it for couple days - bliss.

Good location for a city trip, having a car park was a bonus. The breakfasts were good. Our bedroom was very spacious. For the price we paid the bathroom was very basic.

Locality so close to the city centre Cost. £90 for a room out of season in January is too expensive. £65 - £70 would be adequate.

Proximity to city centre was good ability of Management to deal with complaints regarding the Night Porter was excellent Room was freezing.....had to ask to have heating turned on (noting it was booked in advance during early January) Bar was closed at 10.30pm on a saturday night without warning When querying the Bar being closed without warning, the night porter was very defensive (bordering on rude) and did not handle the situation as he should have from a customer service point of view

The location is fantastic, and plenty of parking along with friendly staff. Often stayed here with friends and on other trips with family. Just 2 things that did not sit well on this trip, 1 the TV in the room could only be seen if you were in the adjacent wardrobe. (They did offer a move but for one night this was not worth the effort). The other was that someone chose 07.50am to empty the bar bottles which woke both myself and my parents in another room.

The staff. Excellent, every member of staff spoke and smiled any time you saw them. Nothing too much trouble and they all seemed to enjoy working there.Created a smashing atmosphere. not a complaint as such but our room was a little small, one side of the bed a bit squashed up against the wall. Didn't spoil our break though as bed was very comfortable once we were in!

Excellent location near the cathedral and our favourite Italian restaurant in York. Staff reallyt friendly and helpful. Room 130 clean with all the facilities you need. Bar pleasant with prices just high enough to keep the yobs out without being expensive. Breakfast was a varied buffet and excellent value. Seemed a little understaffed at times. Only enough milk for three cups of tea in room.

Location to the city centre was excellent and the room was spacious and claen. The traffic noise was bad but I suppose to be expected in a city, however it led to disturbed sleep on both nights. Breakfast although good quality was luke warm on both mornings. It was fairly quiet so maybe breakfast could be cooked to order. Staff very friendly though

I booked for a double room, we got two single beds pushed together and single quilts with a single quilt cover sideways over the top. I was disappointed really. Best Western Hotels are usually much better than this?

“The Minster hotel has really improved since our last visit 3 years ago. There has been extensive refurbishments and the room that we had on our visit was first class. Breakfasts were made to order and were of a good standard. It is in an ideal location for all that the city of York has to offer.” Andrew, Boness |
