Best Western Monkbar Hotel  

First class,excellent staff,just a lovely hotel.

The location was excellent, couldn't have found a better place. Walking distance from the station or Minster. Some areas inside the room look a little run down, however the hotel is in the process of renovation and guess all the rooms will be brought upto the same standard. Its great value for the money and would not mind staying at the same place again.

The Bathrooms looked a bit dirty and the hair dryer wasnt working.

Friendly staff. Comfortable room and lounge areas. Lovely food very pleased with it. Near to city centre. Car parking essential and easy to find space.

Hotel was clean and in a good location. The food was lovely and staff very friendly We stayed in room 201 which was located on the front of the hotel with the main road below the noise on a night and early morning was really bad.There was no double glazing which would have helped with the noise level. I would stay again but not on the front.

The breakfast buffet choice. The proximity to the Minster and town centre. The size of the room. The friendliness of the staff. The availability of the free car park for guests.

The size of the bed. However, we could have requested a King bed if we had known when booking (which we obviously didn't) Thew website did not give us the option.

Hotel is in a great location for site seeing and shopping. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities in room was always topped up. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others.

Everything was great!

Comfortable and clean hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Housekeeping did a good job and we were impressed with the well stocked tea/coffee tray. We stayed over the Easter break and were touched by the offer of an Easter egg from the hotel -a very nice gesture. We did not use the restaurant or bar but would presume it to be of a good standard. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.

I would imagine the bedrooms looking onto the busy main road to be noisy unless they are double glazed. We fortunately had a quiet room at the back.

Wasn't fond of the spiral staircase to bathroom, however, we were given the option to change.

I work in York and we use the Best Western Monkbar Hotel regularly for business accommodation. It is conveniently located for the office and always comfortable and welcoming. Decided to stay in York overnight for pleasure and the hotel was equally suited for a leisure break as business. Reception and bar staff are welcoming, professional and helpful. Room and all public areas very well appointed, clean and comfortable.

Only niggle was at breakfast. We were shown to our table but then had to ask the waiting staff for tea and toast. I have stayed at the hotel before and knew that it was self service but tea/coffee and toast served to the table.

A convenient location for Yorks shops and visitor attractions. The staff were very efficient anf friendly. The room was vary pleasant and well appointed.
