Unique hotel in nice surroundings Disappointed, booked a deluxe double but was put in a superior room, wasn't told I had to point it out, hote lwas fully booked so had to stay in superior. Then they tried to charge us for the more expensive room, again I had to point it out. Bathroom could have been cleaner, very dusty round the edges. Corridors looking very tired, well worn carpets.

The setting & view from the room was lovely. The gardens well maintained. The room spacious & modern. The peacocks were beautiful to look at but after a while the noise became a little annoying.

Area, location. Nature. Nice staff. Noise: windows are not doubled, so we hear too much the noise from the highway. Very hot in the bedroom and I did not find how to turn on the air conditionning.

1. The atmosphere was relaxed. 2. The grounds where very scenic. 3. The quality and cost of the food was good. 1. The "double" bed was made from two single beds. which i slipped down the middle of, as they drifted apart in the night. 2. The carpet at reception and up the stairs was thread bare in many places. 3. Walking from reception to the bar/restaurant in the evening we had to avoid alot of bird excrement! Some of it quite old - they should ensure the main paths are kept clean as my partner almost slipped over due to the mess. 4. When returning to our room from the bar/restaurant, the lighting was very poor and we had difficulty in making our way back to the reception building.

My first stay at the hotel, it was a very nice location, the staff were very polite and helpfull. The service for dinner was very slow, we entered the restaurant at 19:30 and did not start to eat untill 21:00 even though there was spare tables and about 12 people already eating. There was also a very strong smell of soot coming from the fire the whole time.

Location, surroundings Hotel chosen because it advertised wifi in rooms. There was a business need for me to connect to Internet which I was unable to do in any of the locations within hotel. Therefore seriously disadvantaged from business perspective

We stayed for one night b&b with our two adult sons as we had a celebration at the Fat Duck.Very quirky hotel in a great location on its own island accessible by footbridge- lovely grounds with peacocks. The hotel seems to have been partly updated and we were fortunate to have two refurbished rooms ours with a lounge and balcony overlooking the river.Staff were all helpful and friendly.Monkey room is fascinating. Some of the hotel is a little tired ie staircase in bedroom building very worn. Some confusion re rooms when we arrived. We were not initially given the superior room we had booked for us and our sons room had a double bed made up even tho' I had specified twin beds-this was sorted out promptly tho and they were thenmade up as singles.

Location is superb and there is an ambience about the place. Very clean and bedrooms are good size. We had two beds pushed together to make a big bed.Gap in middle made life difficult when we were being romantic. Service in the bar/restaurant in the evening was very slow. The chips were almost raw and the staff's English was so poor they did not get the fact I was not happy. Also they add 12% service charge on the bill which is really taking the piss. There was no chance to query it and anyway they would not understand. I prepaid for hotel booking and agai a foreign receptionist denied I had paid.Soured our welcome.

Very pleasant location on the River Thames. Good value for money on booking.com rate. Food quite good. The hotel seems to feel a little un-loved. The stair carpet in the hotel was threadbare in places. The quality of the bed was not good. No hairdryers in rooms. Heating not too good, electric fan heaters in bedroom and restuarant. Rack rate for the hotel quite high given the condition of the hotel.

i had heard of monkey island previously, i think when you approach the property, it kind of led to an anti climax as the walking over the bridge to reach the property, the peacocks, the overall outside of the property gives you the impression of incredible luxury, when you get into the hotel the reception and lobby area additionally give you excitement it is not "flashy" but certainly upmarket the £60 i paid was looking like an incredible bargain! Then came the room................., totally dated, peeling wall paper/ radiator and a very narrow hallway from the door to the bed, while not moldy the musty odor was overwhleming, the bathroom was one you would expect from an older council property and the carpet had and it is just my opinion semen stains give the distance from the bed, rather then complain, i won't be staying there again
