Staff were exceptionally friendly. Location was delightful - our room overlooked the valleys. Sunday lunch was very good value for money.Will definetly return!

My only gripe was the saniflo toilet appeared to keep flushing all night which meant I didn't have the best nights sleep. Having said that, the beds were very comfortable.

The beds were clean and comfortable, the rooms were basic but good for the money, the breakfast was excellent and the sunday night karaoke did close at 11pm as it stated in the brochure.

1) We had to find staff to book us in. 2) The fact that the restaurant is not open on Sunday evenings was not made clear when booking in, which meant that after a long and tiring journey we then had to go off in search of food.

Staff very attentive. Food and service really good. Bed good. View from room great.

Only two pillows in room. Needed two more as they were very soft. Felt like sleeping on the mattress. Tv on a chest of drawers. Very hard to watch whilst in bed. Could be affixed to wall higher up.

Staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Room was bright and cheery with a beautiful view

Room was a little small and the toilet flush made a heck of a noise

The staff were very helpful, the meals of an evening were top quality and realistically priced, we ate there three out of four nights and the night we missed was because there was a function on and we thought it would probably be a bit too loud for us to enjoy our evening.

Very convenient if working in Blackwood town,very straight forward and at a good prices.

The signage for the road could be improved, found it difficult at night to find.

1) The food was very good value and well cooked. 2) The bed was very comfortable. 3) The staff were very helpful and polite

1) A sign at the entrance would help as we missed the entrance and ended up lost in the estate,as did others who joined us later 2) The saniflow toilets are a little bit noisy

The Lodge on the sencod day of my stay lost all electric power. The management arranged a generator to provide electric power. This alternative supply was intermittant and one night there was no power when it becmae quite cold during the night. When checking out on Friday 16th November I requested an invoice and never got one from the cleaning staff. I returned at about 13:00 for second attemp and was informed by the Manager that the computer was not working and they will send an invoice by email. I have still not received the invoice. Can you help?

Food excellent, staff very laid back and nothing is too much trouble for them. They always make you feel really welcome. This would be our 4th stay at the Monnington

Unfortunately this stay we had a room directly over the bar and on the first night the noise stopped us getting an early night after a long journey. The other nights were fine.

The food was very good. The bar was comfortable. I was able to see the football on the TV screens.

The room was cold on arrival. Heater in bathroomdid not work. No bulb in shaving light over bathroom basin. No plug socket near mirror for hairdryer.

Not much. Room was freezing, excessive noise all night from airconditioning units or fans somewhere at the rear of the hotel, shower pathetic, abrubt waitress in the morning serving breakfast, pre-cooked sausages and pre-cooked bacon highly undesireable. Would actively not recommend this place and certainly wouldn't use it again.

There was a funny smell in the bathroom which I realised was the shower curtain. Full length mirror would have been better

The staff at the hotel were friendly. Breakfast was good.......but The hotel was very disappointing...... we found the hotel very noisey. I found it hard to relax in the bedroom due to noise (banging) from other rooms and on our 2nd night... there was a party in the lounge. It was so loud it could have been happening in our bedroom. The music did finish by 11.45pm but our relaxing evening had been ruined. I did not have a decent nights sleep whilst there. I feel we should have been told about the party not simply expected to put up with it. It would appear that no consideration was given to hotel residents.

The Monnington,was well located for the purpose of our trip,and i would consider it again when travelling solo to the area. Good carparking. Friendly.

I travelled down from Hertfordshire on a Sunday afternoon and upon checking in was informed "sorry no food on a Sunday evening"!!!!! We made do with the local Wetherspoons! not what we had intended!!! Not an area exactly endowed with mid market eating establishments. The Monnington is basically a large pub with letting rooms,there is no residents lounge to relax,you have to use the bar area which when we arrived looked quite cosy but gets very noisy at times(Sunday night was karaoke night, the music was very loud and so was the shouting/screaming and bad language!! outside under my window,which as it was 23dg that day was of course open,but not for long!!) especially when its a very loud Skysports television, (2! one each bar area!) or some fairly loud dance music in the other!! indeed on the Tuesday afternoon at 2pm i had gone to the bar for a drink and to relax and read while waiting for some family visitors to arrive,one person serving at the bar and one customer in conversation with bar person,but i had to ask for the television to be turned down as it was so loud!! and they werent watching it !! this is ok for the youngsters, and while i do like a variety of music it means conversation has to carried very loudly!!! but then that is the Lodges main type of bar customer. I did see one or two other residents at the breakfast table but they were not around in the evenings,nowhere to relax other than stay in your room??? my room had a very wobbly hard wood chair,something comfortable would have been very welcome.(but i do appreciate what the public can be like!!) it would certainly have been welcome in my case as i have a bad back!!! The bedroom was comfortable and clean (no16) The electric kettle in the room was very poorly sited,the cable was about 3ft long and to plug it in you had to take it off of the tea tray and stand it in front of the TV near to the table edge!! VERY DANGEROUS.!!!

Breafast was excellent and staff were friendly.

Noise from bar was excessive and guest/single room was tiny. Have to say the duty manager did move me to the other side of the hotel where noise was minimal. So there is a plus there as well.

It was convenient location for a family wedding nearby. They were obliging in allowing us to check in early due to attending the wedding. The breakfast waitress was very pleasant.

The double bed was not full size in either of the two rooms. The one room in particular, was very small. The beds only had one pillow. The showers were cold.

More like a B&B rather than a hotel. No hairdryer or shampoo/shower gel provided

Having to go outside our room to use wardrobe for our clothes Would have been embarrasing if adjacent room was occupied as both the rooms had to share same wardrobe situated in corridor between rooms. Would be ok if both rooms. Used by same family Toilet extremely noisy when flushed slow drainage down sink and shower.

The bar food was cheap !!

Very dissapointed, looks nothing like the picture on their site, its in the middle of a housing estate !!!
