I stayed the Montagu Arms to meet my brother and the following day my cousin. Upon arrival the welcome was very professional by warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were brilliant. It had a great customer service attitude. There was a wonderful atmosphere of feeling welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Great touches like having tea/coffee brought to the room in the morning as part of the service. The gardens were lovely as was the whole setting. I was only there one night but would highly recommend it.

The restaurant is excellent and the quality of the food is reflected in the price. Comfortable surroundings and beautiful gardens. Good service from knowledgeable staff.

The bedroom was small and we were kept awake all night by the noise of traffic - a big disappointment.

Rooms were well serviced Staff were excellent-no praise too high Setting was lovely and garden fantastic Overall would recommend this Hotel but would caution consulting Wine list prices before ordering anything

West End prices were not appreciated-£45 for a bottle of Prosecco!! Family at top of the Hotel were nearly overcome with the heat-no Air Cond. and fans were insufficient

The hotel itself was really quaint, and in a lovely location. Little touches such as bringing up hot coffee/tea and someone coming in to turn the sheets made the experience special.

The first thing we were told when we arrived was that we could have saved a lot of money if we had booked directly. The communication between the hotel and Booking.com was fragmented and I had to chase both to find out whether we could have the price matched. In the end Booking.com never called us back to notify us that we had in fact been price matched so we missed out on the complimentary breakfast (£20 a head) on both days. We felt the service we received from both the hotel and Booking.com was poor, and this had a negative impact on our holiday.

The tasting menu in the Terrace Restaurant was superb. Not something we would do every time as quite pricy with wine as well but well worth the experience. Especially taking coffee afterwards in the lovely gardens on a summer evening - just perfect!

We had a room at the front of the hotel which was quite noisy in the mornings with lorries unloading at the pub, so not great if you wanted a lie in. And charging £1.75 for still water when you're already charging a lot for the tasting menu and wine and coffee etc was a little bit 'cheap' really.

The ambience, professionalism and friendliness of the staff. attention to detail, delicious food. A haven of peace and the best Night Porter ever! A haven of pecs and perfection

Nothing. But ask for a room facing the garden. Front rooms face the road and it is not possible to open your window because or traffic although there is very little traffic at night.

Montagu Arms was the perfect spot for our party of six with a range of ages from 8 to 71. Each room was different, so everyone felt special. Staff was more than accommodating! Restaurant food and Inn next door was delicious.

No A/C in some of the rooms but that's usual for England. However, staff wonderfully provided fans if cooling was needed.

Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel were very well kept and were nice to sit in of an evening. We had a standard double room which was a good size with a spacious bathroom. would definitely go back for another weekend break.

One evening it took 25 mins before we were served, while others were served before us.

The setting was great esp the restaurant looking out onto the beautiful terraced garden that was lit in the evening. Attention to detail as very good and food superb. Convenience of location for all we'd planned to do was very good.

This website resulted in me being misled re the tariff and terms of my booking, had the food not been so very special I would have been very disappointed. The bed could have been a stage wider!

So British! Very cosy, pretty garden, excellent diner .

The bed rooms are really small. We wanted a continental breakfast with croissants and pastries and were given only one tiny croissant for 2!

Charming historic British Inn, with two excellent restaurants including Michelin rated Terrace. Friendly staff. Afternoon tea. Cozy and comfortable. Sister property has nice spa and excellent Thai Restaurant.

Some of the staff appeared to be in training. English coastal rain.

Very comfortable room and bed. Friendly staff. Excellent meal at the Michelin starred restaurant.

We fould it all a bit too formal. The hotel has a slightly faded splendour and old fashioned feel to it. The meal we had at Monty's Inn was not up to expectations-we certainly would not eat there again. The hotel prices were not good value for money.
