The welcome was excellent, the facilities were what I expected (I made a last minute on-line booking in bad weather), and the breakfast was very good. The top floor room I had was not over-heated, which suited me but may have been cool for other people. Buses into the city were conveniently close. Traffic noise (which I am unused to).

The guest house was beautifully decorated, and had lots of nice touches. It was very individual which made a nice break from the cloned and sterile places often seen. Breakfast was great, proper black pudding!

Martin is great! Friendly, helpful, and makes a great breakfast. He also goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms are decorated very nicely but fewer ornaments would give the room a more spacious feel. Could also use more surface/ shelf space for placing personal items.

Very friendly hosts, a lovely breakfast and a nice place to stay Not much in the way of restuarants nearby if you don't want to drive. The local Premier Inn was reccomended to us and turned out to be a good call.

Very homely, staff attentive, lovely breakfast. We paid for two rooms for two delegates to attend a conferance at Durham University and upon arrival the delegates were told that we hadnt booked two rooms and that they were sharing a twin, and deducted £5.00 per head off the price agreed for the two separate rooms, which should have been more.

A very welcoming and comfortable stay, with an excellent breakfast - thank you I will return but not to a bedroom at the front, as the traffic noise was the only downside of this lovely guest house. Perhaps a slightly later breakfast time option at week-ends would be more relaxing for guests who are on holiday.

The location was good and the host was extremely pleasant and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast was the only meal available, it was always well prepared and of good quality. Nothing more substantial was required until the evening. The room was more than adequate with all necessary facilities but please see the comment below. The only suggestion would be that the double bed did not give quite as much room for two average people as the next size up would have done. Would have liked a bit more space.!

The friendly welcome and homely atmosphere. The individual and tasteful decor in pastel shades, a refreshing change from the stark formula of hotel chains. Slight traffice noise in front bedroom, but not enough to keep you awake at night, and not a very heavy traffic flow.
