I liked the way the owner welcomed me on arrival and explained everything. The bedroom was comfortable and clean with lots of thoughtful touches for the comfort of the guests. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices and the owner is very attentive to the guest's requirements. The accommodation has a warm and welcoming feel and I would stay there again.
I found the roof space bedroom a bit claustrophobic as the ceiling is low and there's only a velux window. Wardrobe door only opens about 10 inches as it hits a beam! The car parking is at the rear at the back of a car park. A 200 yards walk to and fro to take bags up to room. Was a bit worried for safety of car. However all was well
Martin is an excellent host & cook with wonderfully presented breakfasts. He was very welcoming when we arrived. He is very friendly & helpful without being intrusive. It was a good location for getting into Durham City easily with the bus stop very close by or a pleasant walk down hill for the more energetic.
Has everything you need and easy access to major routes, pub next door does a great pint of bitter.
Excellent breakfast! So helpful. Good location Good price
Martin went above and beyond for mums bday with banners and balloons etc, and place was lovely and comfy and lovely breakfast.
Breakfast was good and owner welcoming.
Hard bed and everything was a just a bit shabby.
Great welcome Comfortable room Lovely breakfast Value for money
The staff were very friendly and their were lots of homely touches
Everything was fine. Nice room, clean. Very good breakfast. Free parking on the back of the house.
Everything ...we will definitely use Moor end again hopefully we will be returning next year.
Well kept guest house
Room given at top of house. noisy wooden floors.
very pretty room. nice welcome from the owners. didn't order a cooked breakfast but what I saw with other guests looked really nice
the owners warned me about the very noisy (macerating) en suite toilet. and it sure was!! As someone who gets up often in the night it would have been v unfair to flush it as it would have woken the whole household! also bed and floorboards very creaky - again very conscious of this and felt I might disturb other guests.
TV kept freezing so unable to watch
Moorend Guest House was delightful,we enjoyed our stay very much,we were very comfortable during our 2 night stay and would highly reccomend this place to anyone,
Bedroom, lovely comfy bed and excellent breakfast
Shower cubicle very small.
Martin was a super host
Excellent location on the edge of town with a good bus service right outside the door. So different from a hotel chain with individual and tastefully furnished rooms. Breakfast will set you up for the day and the pub grub at The Sportsman next door is better than average with really friendly staff and clientele.
Nothing really though a heated towel rail would have been advantageous.
Very clean and comfortable room. Hearty breakfast.
Breakfast only available between 8 & 8.30am. A bit out of city centre but close to bus routes.
The owners are a very pleasant couple and treat you like family, not paying guests. We really enjoyed just looking at the decor. You could tell that a lot of love and work had gone into creating a visually relaxing setting. While further out from the city center then other B&Bs; it has churches, a grocery and several other small shops within an easy walk.
Clean and comfortable, good facilities and perfect base for visiting Durham.
Very nicely decorated, spotlessly cleaned, very friendly and helpful owner, easy parking in parking lot of pub next door.
Low ceiling and beams on top flor. Could be a problem for tall people.
As this B&B is located a short distance outside of Durham, the price was very reasonable compared to others. But it is located right along the bus line that runs every 15 minutes into town. Very convenient.
From the welcome when we arrived to saying goodbye, we had a lovely stay at Moor End. Lovely clean room and linen, with all facilities provided. Handy to bus stops, and Durham provides a good base for touring the area.
Nice spacious comfortable room. Great breakfast with gluten free bread and cereals available. Very helpful owner giving advice on where to eat out etc.
