It was a beautiful hotel. Fantastic views and grounds. Both contemporary and rustic design that complemented eachother. The rooms well ours was huge. Bed very comfortable to sleep in. We had a room with balcony over looking the giant pond and waterfall feature was very nice. Confirmation letter stated rooms were bed and breakfast when in fact there not and you had to pay £12 per person for a very small breakfast, not what you wanted to argue about on your honeymoon. Food and drink very expensive.

great building, nice environment, good location. Lovely historical building, lovely period bathroom. Not corporate, everything the same, hotel food poor, room service appalling - orders slow or forgotten. Idealy would have been nice to have a shower in the en-suite but the bath was huge and great!

Room was clean and cosy. Not family oriented. We ordered dinner from the hotel restaurant and instead of potatoes we asked if we could have mash for our toddler. The restaurant didn't bother to accommodate us in any way even though the chef could have just mashed a few potatoes in no time. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. I'm highly disappointed and won't be booking at this hotel again. I expected a more professional standard.

Location First room was good but obviously in the wrong spot. We had to move room friday night because of a wedding function, could not sleep because of very loud music. Weekend functions should be mentioned on website. Bed in double room is very small, comfortable for one but not for two people. Bed sheets seem to have seen better times. There should be two prices for continental and full english breakfast. 12.50£ for continental is too expensive.

A little bizarre. Booked top price room for its terrace/balcony, on arrival put into standard room without comment. WHen asked my booking, put into mid room. Plumbing didn;t work properly (scalding hot water or cold only in showers) so after second night moved to another room. Service good. But not very efficient on the booking/arrival process, or fast at fixing probeoms.

The room was excellent , spacious with view across gardens. Room was cleaned to excellent standard with large lcd Tv for entertainment. Bar area/lounge was very comfortable. Food of good quality. Staff very friendly and courteous at all times. Hotel advertised free WIFi and has apparently got 3 to connect to but unable to connect to any of the networks at any time of day. The weekend we were there they were facilitating 2 weddings so on saturday night unable to get a meal in resturant. Also due to numbers in hotel on both mornings a buffet style hot breakfast was in use with old type warming pans that involved one person serving as a result long queues for as long as 20 minutes meant that by time you returned to table toast and beverages were cold. This apparently is case if more than 70 guests were in attendence.

Room was good. Food and facilities were good. Helpful and pleasant staff. I booked this room on behalf of my mother. The shambles over the wedding party booking and mix-ups over misspelling of my name etc. detracted from what would otherwise have been a pleasant stay. One member of the party was told at midnight that there was no booking for him when we had written confirmation that his name was on the list. I was unable to pay up front which was an inconvenience for me. Both my wife and I had to visit beforehand to sort out the mess over the names and dates of our party booking. We have directed our guests to your hotel on many occasions over the years but if there is a repeat of what happened on the weekend of 28/29th May, it will be the last time. You really let yourselves down!

We just had an overnight stay but the room was excellant, good coffee! The staff made us feel welcome and managed to accommodate our request for an early check in as we had to get ready for a wedding . Very comfortable bed and pillows. We came to breakfast at the right time, about 8.45am, but I noticed that people turning up a little later had hardly any thing left on the cold/continenatl table so not sure if it was replenished but it needed to be as it didn't look hospitable.

The reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful with a very natural and professional manner. The bed was very comfortable. Only complaint was that the bath plug did not fit the plug hole. I had to hold it down to retain the water.

Great location and setting I was frustrated to have booked a manor room at an additional price (described as being in main house) only to find that we had a room in main hotel among the standard rooms. It was explained that the room was of an equivalent standard but the price was the same and it was pretty ordinary. The hotel was very quite and I suspect the manor rooms were not in use, but it was misleading and there was no apology.

Friendly helpful staff member on reception on the day we checked out (Friday 30) Hotel only provided one towel for two people, shower was lukewarm at best. In restaurant, door through to kitchen was left ajar and my partner had a lovely view from our table of the serving and catering staff eating cold bacon whilst continuing to serve and prepare breakfast, not to mentioned the hacking coughing alos coming from the kitchen. Cooked breakfast was of poor quality, especially for £12.50. Hotel was isolated and taxi service to and from was poor - hotels booked us taxis thought their recommended company and we waited over half an hour for it to arrive before booking our own with another firm.

A nice hotel, but on arrival we asked if the hotel did afternoon tea, we were told no, but the pub across the road would probably have something for us to eat. However they did not. On our return to the hotel and looking through your booklet in the room, it said that sandwiches were available 24 hours a day. The receptionist did not tell us that. The room was nice but the bed side lamps were broken and could not be used, the room itself could have done with a little tlc, curtains were hanging down, not on the runners. However these little hiccups would not put us off staying again.
