The position was marvellous with the dramatic scenery of the Peak District all around! The bedroom, hotel and pool were all extremely clean and the gym had up to date machinery. The dining room was rather crowded with too many tables close together. The night we stayed was very busy and the staff were rushed - not conducive to a relaxed dining experience. But the food was good - congrats to the chef!

Just went to the Moorside for a night with my 3 year old. Had a lovely time - swimming and a great meal with my family. The waiter was really great with my 3 year old. Thank you. The pool was cold upon entering! But otherwise a perfect break.

It ticked all the boxes for a 3-star, the staff were excellent and it is kept in pristine condition. High standard,of cuisine. A very enjoyable stay. It is rather isolated. Food & bar prices a bit steep

We booked this hotel for a number of reasons one of wich was the Spa. However when we arrived we were unable to book any treatments as no staff were available during the 2 days of our stay. I therefore would not recommend this hotel as the marketing of a spa is misleading at best and lie at worst.

Helpful and friendly staff plus superb location went some way to redeeming for the fact that the hotel is old, grubby, poorly maintained. Cracked sink in bathroom, shabby furniture, mouldy grouting. Room Service meal was adequate but poor quality meat for the steak. Wi-Fi intermittent. No comfortable place to sit to enjoy the views --- dark and oppressive. I think the staff do a great job making the best of a very run down premise. Cracked bathroom sink, mouldy grouting --- poor decor and furnishings. Poor WiFi connectivity --- gloomy outlook

It was ideally located for our purpose and good value. The room in the roof that we had was quite restricted because of the gable and I think more could have been done to prevent one injuring oneself when getting up in the morning. We didn't actually suffer any problem, but there is little doubt that we could have done. Perhaps some padding in a couple of places. The road marking and signing on the approach road needs improvement. I came very close to turning into a lay- by on the approach road at night which had better kerbing than the actual left turn. The access to upstairs via the lift is a long way from the easiest route to some rooms and the stairs are not well signposted at reception.
