Moresby Hall  

Rooms were very clean. Made to feel very welcome. The bathroom was fantastic heated floors and radio in shower very modern. Excellent location short drive to Whitehaven harbour. Breakfast was really nice too.

The room was fabulous as was the rest of the building. The staff were also really friendly and we had a nice night overall.

The place is next door to some kind of sewage processing plant, which rips away any notion of romance if you dare leave the confines of the building for a walk. Breakfast wasn't great; what I'd expect from a greasy spoon cafe rather than a luxury guest house.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Room very comfortable and well appointed. Good attention to detail. Breakfasts freshly cooked to order. Quiet and relaxing.

The hotel was beautiful, room was spacious very clean and comfortable. The service and hospitality was first class and the food excellent.

Only negative was the location, however it suited the purpose for our visit, a relaxed getaway for a night in a luxurious hotel.

Everything the owner offered, peace and quiet, breakfast was lovley, the owners have worked very hard on the hall

Amazing place to stay, such friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Lovely location, room was more than we expected - would not hesitate to stay there again!

My husband and I have just returned from an Easter break at Moresby Hall. It was beautiful. Jane and David are so welcoming and encourage you treat the hall like your home. The room was beautiful and comfortable. We had our evening meal at the hall on the Saturday and it was georgous. We knew the was no evening meal on the Sunday as we were advised of this upon booking so we booked into a restaurant on the harbour in Whitehaven a very short distance away.. Sitting by the open fires in either the hall or drawing room with a campari and lemonade was wonderful. We also booked the afternoon tea which was scrumptious and the pudding platter was to die for. It was lovely not to have to sit by a bar but to be able to request your drinks at any time and sit in comfort. As Jane says this is not a hotel and thank god it isn't as you would not get all the personal attention you receive. Thank you Jane and David for a wonderful weekend and we do hope to get back sometime.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The food was out of this world.

The only issue is that not all rooms have a bath.

We liked the large fire places and the bathroom. It was a luxurious treat.

Hotel looked like haunted house ( my husband heard strange noise at night) , staff told us it is true about ghosts, so if you looking for paranormal things you are welcome there!!! Dinner was served at 8 and without exception, we were very hungry and had to it all biscuits in room. I don't think it should be like this in 5 star hotel. I would not stay there again even somebody pay me!!!

The service is always very good and personal. The rooms are individualised and very comfortable and the food delicious.

The atmosphere of easy welcome and friendliness and their dedication to reducing waste and therefore keeping their prices down.

We arrived in dreadful weather conditions which made the grey building look less than welcoming -- but nothing could be further from the truth as we were made immediatly welcome , provided with coffee and biscuits and then escorted to our room at the top of the buildng. Nice big room , big and comfortable bed and a state of the art bathroom. Smashing breakfast next morning and again made feel most welcome.

Upon our arrival we pulled into the car park and was amazed by the hall itself and the beautiful grounds. We were welcomed by Jane and was made very at ease. We were showed to our rooms of which all 3 were beautiful, so full of character and charm. We relaxed and settled in well before dining at the hall, the food was delicious, all home cooked, quality ingredients, Jane really has some serious talent in the kitchen! We were going into Whitehaven town after tea but decided that we would stay at the hall all all evening. We had a fantastic nights sleep and breakfast was lovely, they really do pull out all the stops, Jane and David actually take an interest in their guests which makes them worlds apart from all other hotels/B&B's.... Highly recommended to anyone seeking a special break away :)

Jane at Moresby is a wonderful lady. You feel like a member of the family during the entire stay. The rooms are spotless and the bathrooms were modern with nice fixtures.

To pick nits, I am a business traveler and there wasn't much in the way of a desk/chair.

The Hall itself is delightful with a lot of history but all mod cons. The rooms are individual and very large and roomy. There is a lot of attention to detail and small things which all add up, and the service is personal due to the small number of residents. The food is always nice too.

Being a listed building makes for a very interesting building and the surrounding grounds make an excellent change to the city business multi-storey hotels.

The hotel was very enjoyable - shame about the man on the next table at dinner, surprised his partner puts up with him - you in the red jumper, you know who you are !
